Job Title:Special Events Sales Manager

Pay Details:The annual base salary range for this position in California is $84,000 to $105,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.

Candidates are also eligible for uncapped sales commissions in additional compensation in first-year sales.

The Special Events Sales Manager is responsible for proactively selling revenue generating event opportunities to clients for all areas of ocV!BE. This role facilitates the achievement of personal and annual team sales goals and provides direct support to the Director of Sales. This position creates unique and financially successful special events while coordinating with all respective Honda Center, ARTIC and future ocV!BE departments on event specifics needs.

ResponsibilitiesProactively pitch and book private special events in market segments as assigned by the Director, Special Events held on the ocV!BE property, including the Honda Center and ARTIC Transit Center and all available public or owned/operated spacesMeet and exceed individual sales goalsConsistently fulfill sales call and networking quotas while maintaining impeccable client detail trackingCreate event recruitment strategies to increase content and programming both in creative public-facing and private special eventsWork with all in-house departments to ensure consistency, accuracy, and optimal financial opportunities on all eventsReview industry trends and make recommendations on new business opportunities that support departmental strategic plansHandle initial phone calls and electronic inquiries promptly (within 24 hours)Develop and continually work to build a complete, comprehensive targeted list of client companies/organizations within assigned categoriesEnsure optimal perception of venue within the community as well as within professional organizationsDraft event contracts and maintain files and databases for upcoming and past eventsCoordinate special events on venue calendar through Venue Ops and communicate the schedule details to all necessary partiesGive tours to potential social, corporate and convention clients, location scouts, and potential event producers in conjunction with event managersCommunicate and distribute the contract details for upcoming events to the appropriate departments through all relevant means, including attending the weekly Special Events MeetingsProactively solicit new business opportunities via cold calls, sales calls, in-person client presentations and market prospecting corporations, DMCs, incentive houses, Tour & Travel companies, meeting planners, associations, non-profits, SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious and Fraternal) groups, concierges, and hotelsIdentify key clients to create and solidify discount/incentive programs and preferred statusManage and track account activityValidate and secure space availability for new opportunitiesNegotiate contractual points and close dealsEstablish knowledge and eventual expertise in using our systems, i.e., VenueOps, Caterease, etc.Represent ocV!BE at local and national meetings with organizations directly related to assigned markets and the hospitality industry as assigned, such as MPI, ISES, HSMAI, NACE, IMEX, and Smart MeetingsAssist in the development of ocV!BE Special Events sales collateral and campaignsMonitor changes in the sales and special events industry and develop strategies to improve and adjust to those changesSkills

5+ years of experience generating consistently profitable relationships in the entertainment and hospitality industries preferredExperience with Venue Ops and/or Caterease is preferredWorking knowledge of local and regional markets, special event operations, and guest relationsStrong inter-personal skillsAdvanced skills with Microsoft Suite Office Programs, catering software, and calendaring systemsAble to delegate, follow up, and relate to staff, guests and clients in a positive, timely and effective manner
