Join Purdue University Fort Wayne: PFW is currently seeking a Plumber in our Operations and Maintenance department. This position will perform preventative maintenance, installation, repair, inspection, calibration, etc. to PFW campus plumbing systems. The hourly wage for this position is $28.08. Primary Responsibilities: Respond to work orders, diagnose problems, determine appropriate repair solutions, and ensure repairs and maintenance are completed in a timely manner. Conduct regular inspections and routine testing on campus plumbing systems. Analyze and develop plumbing layouts of installations to ensure compliance with local plumbing codes. Purchase installation and repair supplies and make recommendations for equipment purchases. Assist with campus utility shutdowns which may include assisting outside contractors in locating and servicing facilities/equipment. Assist other Facilities co-workers in performing a variety of tasks based on departmental needs. Required Qualifications: A High School diploma or GED. Active Indiana plumber license. Demonstratable ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair various piping systems including chilled water, steam, air, gas, high and low pressure steam lines, heating systems, air compressors, or pneumatic controls. Proficient in the installation of water lines, waste lines, steam lines, refrigerant lines, fixtures, and valves. Familiarity with local plumbing codes, flow capacities, and restrictive flow characteristics of pipes and fittings. Must be able to move, lift, carry, push and pull 50 to 80 pounds occasionally. Must have the ability to work at various heights on ladders, bucket trucks, etc. Must have a valid driver's license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records policy requirements.
