Senior Pre-Award Grant Administrator

is responsible for reviewing, negotiating and administering externally funded research grants and contracts. This position will serve as the primary liaison with external sponsors, and will review and submit proposals on behalf of the university. The Senior Pre-Award Grant Administrator will be responsible for setting up new awards and processing changes to existing awards in Georgetown's financial system (GMS). This position supports the researchers of Cluster #3, each of which includes several departments within Main campus and the Medical Center. They will support all aspects of a grant or contract award, from cradle to grave including: proposal submission, award set-up, award management and assistance with closeout activities. This position also provides leadership, training and oversight of the grants and contracts manager in their cluster. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Award Review, Negotiation and Set up

Review, negotiate, and execute extramural awards.Develop teaming agreements (if applicable), performing various compliance checks.Serve as the liaison and interacts directly with external sponsors.Set up the award in Georgetown's financial system (GMS), and maintain the award in the system throughout the life cycle, including modifications and close out.Complete the 'Award Set Up' process in the internal routing system, GU-Pass.Serve as the subject matter expert for complex awards within the cluster, such as program projects and training grants.Proposal Submission

Complete the review and execution of external proposals, and work with other Georgetown offices if needed to ensure the budgets and administrative documents are compliant with federal and sponsor guidelines.Submit external proposals through sponsor systems, such as ASSIST, grants.gov, ProposalCentral, and any other sponsor portals.Serve as Business Official for the university.Work with the Proposal Specialist, as needed, to create eRA Commons accounts.Submit complex proposals within the cluster, such as program projects and training grants.Subaward Set Up

Receive subaward requests from CRA and/or Post-Award Grant Admin within the cluster, and reviews the award and documentation submitted to ensure the request is in compliance with the award.Complete the subrecipient monitoring.Draft sub award agreement, and sends final document to the subrecipient institution.Leadership & Training Support

Support individual professional development activities, including the onboarding of new grants and contracts managers across the clusters.Lead additional projects or initiatives to promote additional training opportunities, such as the development of online/Zoom trainings.Promote team orientation and excellent customer service in a demanding, deadline-driven environment.Work Interactions

The Sr. Pre-Award Grant Administrator reports directly to their Cluster Research Administrator. This position works closely with the Pre-Award Grant Administrator, with other staff members in their cluster, across the Post-Award Grant Administrator roles within JORA, and other collaborating offices to ensure that awards are complete, accurate and in compliance with sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience in a university or other non-profit grants management roleKnowledge of NIH funding mechanisms, including R01, P01, P30, T32 and foundation proposalsFlexible and adaptable to accommodate ongoing changes to internal and external policiesCapacity to establish clear priorities and multi-task in a high-volume settingAbility to work quickly and effectively under pressureDemonstrated financial accounting skills to enable financial and programmatic report production, and should include a high level of proficiency in ExcelProven experience with financial systems, accounting, and cost accounting standards as they pertain to grants and contracts managementSkill in fostering a collaborative, customer-oriented working environment where there are multiple customers with competing prioritiesProfessional communication style, with an ability to work with external sponsorsPreferred Qualifications

Certified Research Administration (CRA), Certified PreAward Research Administration (CPRA) and/or Certified Financial Research Administration (CFRA)Familiarity with WorkdayWork Mode Designation
