The Senior Manager of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for leading and managing the Solution Architecture and Domain architecture team – a pivotal architecture function within the EA organization. The Solution and Domain architecture team is expected to provide projectized technical leadership and oversight to IT Portfolio functions. The role will be also expected to provide guidance and oversight to Application architecture in a federated architecture org model. The role involves designing, planning, and implementing enterprise-wide IT architecture strategies that align with business objectives while also maturing the organization's modern application architecture platform. The Senior Manager will work closely with business and IT leaders to ensure efficient use of technology, promote architecture best practices and governance, and develop high-impact technical leadership within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
Provide leadership and oversight for the Solution and Domain architecture & Capacity Management teams and design & architectural oversight to Application architecture teams operating globally to support the organization’s vast collection of applications across all business portfolios.
Provide guidance and leadership to a team of architects, ensuring they have clear goals and are delivering high-quality solutions.
Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize business opportunities that can be enhanced through effective architecture.
Architecture Development:
Design and oversee the implementation of complex IT systems, ensuring they meet business needs and are scalable, secure, and efficient.
Establish and enforce architectural principles, guidelines, and standards.
Develop and maintain current and target state architecture models, including applications, data, and infrastructure.
Promote and support modern application development practices, including tooling, integration with development processes, and evangelizing capabilities utilized by application delivery and development teams.
Team Development & Management:
Develop and mentor high-impact technical leadership teams through onboarding, open communication, training, and development opportunities, and performance management processes.
Build and maintain employee morale and motivation, ensuring a high-performing team of technical professionals.
Manage the hiring, training, and development of staff, provide performance reviews, recommend pay increases, and ensure consistent application of organizational policies.
Technology Governance:
Bolster the governance processes and ensure that end to end projectized architectural solutions comply with architectural principles & standards, company policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
Lead the technology selection and system integration for solutions, ensuring that they align with the overall enterprise architecture.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with various business units, IT teams, and external vendors to ensure that architecture solutions meet business requirements.
Act as a key advisor to IT leadership, providing insights and recommendations on emerging technologies and trends.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on the enterprise architecture.
Promote a culture of innovation, encouraging the exploration of innovative technologies and approaches.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase the effectiveness of IT solutions.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
15+ years of experience in IT, with at least 8 years in enterprise/solution architecture role in large/complex environments supporting Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Sales, Ecom and Finance IT portfolios
Proven experience in leading and managing architecture teams in Fortune 500 (preferably Life Science) companies or Big 5 consulting firms providing technology solutions for SAP S/4, Manhattan (or similar EWM), SAP IBP (or similar) Microsoft Dynamics CRM (or similar), Azure Cloud, Azure Data stack, MS 365 (Fabric, Power BI, Power Platform and others) etc. based technology stacks
5+ years of experience architecting, designing, and/or delivering scalable and decoupled systems in a heavily regulated technology environments
3+ years of experience working with internal or external customers
3+ years of experience with Azure concepts and implementations
Experience in a regulated environment (HIPAA, PCI, Privacy, etc.) Software engineering and infrastructure architecture experience is preferred
Sound understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or similar.
Skills:
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in architectural modeling tools and techniques.
Ability to communicate at all levels in the organizations with required technical depth and breadth
Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Deep understanding of emerging technologies and industry trends and possesses a continuous learning mindset.
Certifications:
Certified Enterprise Architect (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) is highly desirable.
Other relevant certifications in Azure cloud architecture, security, or IT governance are a plus.
