Bruce the Goose Personality/ActorPay rate: $15/hourJob Summary:The UM-Dearborn Student Activities Board’s Maize & Blue Crew is seeking personable, hard working, energetic students to serve in the position of Bruce the Goose. The Bruce the Goose Personality/Actor will be in charge of the costume and make appearances at events on and off campus to energize event attendees.
As Bruce the Goose you will enhance the school spirit of the Dearborn Wolverines at events and across the university. The Bruce the Goose Personality/Actor not only engages students in various ways, but also works with the Maize and Blue Crew team to create a schedule for Bruce the Goose appearances.How to Apply:To be considered for this position, submit a cover letter/statement of interest addressing why you would be a good fit to embody Bruce the Goose, why you love UM-Dearborn, and how you embody the Dearborn Wolverine spirit through the online application platform at umich.careers.edu. Key Responsibilities:Attend specified events to meet and greet studentsAttend photo opportunities in and around the event venue, and encourage crowd participationEmbody Bruce the Goose and fulfill all the responsibilities assigned by the member engagement leadYou will be required to maintain the integrity of their costumes, including keeping the costume clean and communicating if repairs/cleaning is neededMaintain confidentiality of your identity as Bruce the GooseRepresent the university at various social, alumni, and community eventsBeing responsible and accountable to appearance schedules -- arriving on time and remaining for the duration of a shiftOther tasks as assignedRequired Qualifications:Must be enrolled as a student at UM-Dearborn.Must be able to perform in a full costume for 30 minutes at a time.Must be able to carry the weight of a full costume character for up to 30 minutes at a time while performing the role.Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, bending, standing, walking, and dancing.Fan-friendly and outgoing individual with a dynamic personality, while in costume.Able to carry out physical work, and work in a costume.Must be able to appropriately fit in the Bruce the Goose costumeWilling to learn and improve skills.What You Will LearnHow to work in a professional environmentProblem solvingThe University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks.
