Salary/Compensation Statement:There are no health benefits available for these positions.

Working Schedule:

Up to 40 hour shift available:

Perform opening and closing daily clinic procedures

The clinic coordinator will work with you on hours and months scheduled based on your agreed upon commitment

Monday-Friday clinic 7:30-5:30

Possible evening clinics and Saturday clinics

Required Qualifications:

Required Education:The education required to be an Oregon Board-Certified Dentist.

Required Experience:The experience required to be an Oregon Board-Certified Dentist.

Licensure or Certification Requirements:

Drug Enforcement Agency License for scheduled medications ( DEA )

Basic Life Support Certificate ( BLS )

Conditions of Employment:

Successful applicants are required to complete a criminal background check. Infractions do not necessarily disqualify a candidate, and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Must work and reside in the state of Oregon at the time their work is being performed.

Dentists must carry their own malpractice liability insurance.

Complete an Educational Methodologies course within 30 days of hire.

Position Purpose:

To provide dental services and training to students and community members in a training clinic.

Essential Functions:

Promote a positive working environment that is team oriented and works in a busy, fully-functioning teaching dental clinic, while also providing a safe, positive environment for patients.

Provide comprehensive public health-oriented dental services to eligible persons to include: diagnostic, consultation/referral.

May provide emergency services to include extractions, incisive and drain infections, prescribes medications as needed, treatment of oral trauma.

Initiate preventive clinical services: prophylaxis of teeth, periodontal scaling procedures, sealants, oral hygiene education, radiographs, and topical fluoride applications.

May provide restorative clinical services: amalgams, composites, crowns, prosthetics to include fixed, endodontics, prosthetic, periodontic, oral surgery services diagnosis of dental and oral disease.

Willingness to provide all general clinic services such as exams, determination of service as appropriate, oral hygiene instruction to include use of fluoride and periodontal assessment with emphasis on individualized home care instruction and other required dental duties.

Participate in specialty clinics collaboratively with other members in planning for dental patients' health needs and complaints.

Assist and work with the Dental Director in maintaining strong communication relative to overall operation of the dental clinic.

Refer to specialists for treatment that cannot be provided within the clinic.

Familiarity with automated practice management and electronic dental record systems (Eaglesoft).

Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of

standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.

Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement:

This position is supervised by The Dean of Health Professions. Clinic work will be led by Primary Dental Assistants and Licensed Clinic Dentists. The Clinic Coordinator leads the work of the clinic, sets schedules, oversees daily operations, workflow, establishes procedures, gives input for clinic functions and develops organizational procedures.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Sitting / Mobility: Approximately 25% of time is spent working at a desk. Balance of time (approximately 75%) is spent moving around work area chairside dental care.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Principles, standard practice methods, and techniques of dentistry.

The diagnosis and treatment of dental and oral diseases.
