A law firm in Boston is seeking a Junior to Mid-level Associate Attorney with a focus on patent preparation and prosecution in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, and related technologies. The attorney will be responsible for handling patent preparation and prosecution matters, primarily in electrical engineering and computer science. The role requires a high level of academic achievement, industry experience, and excellent communication and writing skills. The ideal candidate will have a background in patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies, with a preference for experience in data science/AI, networking technologies, and machine learning/artificial intelligence, especially in the realm of hardware security.Duties:Conducting patent searches, analyzing prior art, and providing strategic advice on patentability and infringement issues.Drafting and prosecuting patent applications, responding to office actions, and managing patent portfolios.Collaborating with inventors, engineers, and clients to understand and articulate complex technical concepts.Requirements:Minimum of 2 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science.Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) are required.Strong academic record and a commitment to excellence.Certifications:Admission to the USPTO.Skills:Solid understanding of patent law and the ability to apply legal principles to technical issues.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in analyzing and articulating complex technical concepts.Ability to work collaboratively with inventors, clients, and colleagues.Familiarity with patent prosecution in electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security is preferred.
