POSITIONWe seek an experienced and creative medicinal chemist with a proven track record of success in drug discovery. The individual will be responsible for impacting lead optimization programs by identifying and solving synthetic and medicinal chemistry problems, creating project relevant hypotheses, interpreting SAR as well as generating insights that influence research strategies. Candidates should be motivated to work in an intensely collaborative, multidisciplinary, team-based setting as well as proactively interfacing with diverse teams working on automated experimentation, AI-driven molecular generation, property predictions, and bioassay data generation.EMPLOYMENT TYPEFull-time. Location in San Diego.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDevise strategies to identify lead molecules and optimize them for potency, selectivity, and ADME properties using multivariant SAR analysis and hypothesis driven design principlesDesign synthetic target for lead discovery, develop and execute clear synthetic routes using state-of-the-art synthetic methodologiesIdentify, develop and apply novel enabling technologies and chemistriesDevelop novel and creative solutions to overcome project and medicinal obstaclesGenerate effective hypotheses to pursue, followed by experimental planning and executionMake substantive conceptual contributions to the project activities and scientific strategiesImport new principles and concepts from other fields to establish new progress within the projectPresent data and reports on projects status at group, and departmental meetingsSupport the advancement of compounds through in vitro and in vivo studies to identify development candidatesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPhD in Organic Chemistry with at least 5 years of pharmaceutical or biotech experience with a demonstrated track record of contributions to the drug discovery projectsOrMaster's in Organic Chemistry and 9+ years of similar experience noted aboveDetail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and writtenHighly self-motivated and ability to multitask, navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, highly matrixed team environmentDemonstrated capabilities in problem-solving and creative scientific approachesAbility to prepare written and oral reports including publications and project plans, provide technical input, and make presentationsKnowledge of ADME, computational chemistry, SBDD, molecular and cellular biology and pharmacologyABOUT IAMBICIambic is disrupting the therapeutics landscape with its cutting-edge generative AI drug discovery platform.
