The grant funded advising specialist serves as the coordinator for the

Complete4Success

student initiative. This role will remove educational barriers for students by connecting them to the college and community resources needed to be successful in their studies and complete their credentials and degrees at Howard Community College. In addition to supporting students' resource needs, this role will work collaboratively with the college's grant administrators to ensure compliance and provide report preparation and analysis according to grant deadlines.Work Performed

Identifies, connects, advises, and case manages the Complete4Success scholars who are near to completion based upon the Complete4Success grant criteria; Provides start to finish service and clearly communicates information and action items to the student to ensure the student completes their credential/degree.Case manages assigned student caseload and directly connects students to college support services to assist them with college completion and success (e.g., disability support services, career services, transfer services, emergency financial assistance, and essential basic needs), and follows up/ follows through to ensure the student obtains the services.Refers students to college and community resources.Ensures compliance with Complete4Success reporting requirements.Employs technology to assist students with navigating the support and resource processes at the college and within the community.Partners with community social services to provide information to students regarding resources available to them.Provides ongoing quality communication, effective customer service and support by using consistent, effective outreach and follow-up, including phone calls and digital communication, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.In collaboration with public relations and marketing, creates, maintains, and promotes college and community resources available for HCC students.Provides administrative support for the Complete4Success initiative, including and not limited to data entry, maintaining student files, and reporting.Collaborates across the Student Success division and with the Teaching and Learning division to provide optimal support for Complete4Success Scholars.Creates a warm and welcoming environment for students.Updates and tracks grant reporting on student award allocation, persistence, and completion.Works with the Planning Research and Organizational Development (PROD) office to ensure accuracy in assessment and reporting.Minimum Education Required

Minimum bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. All degrees must be from a recognized institutional accreditor.Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague information system preferred.Experience coaching or advising students, or similar human services.Competency in organizing data and preparing reports.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel).Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; confidence speaking with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and set priorities to achieve goals and objectives.Demonstrated ability to foster a cooperative team-focused work environment.Ability to contribute to a dynamic, student-focused team culture that delivers excellent customer service and personal attention to students and families.Commitment to diversity.
