To provide vision, innovation, and leadership to the College of Podiatric Medicine in the area of Student Services; to establish and maintain a current and well-informed understanding of student life, issues, perspectives, and services, and to utilize this knowledge to promote a learning-centered environment in which the professional development of the podiatric physician is emphasized.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong verbal and communication skills, listening skills, counseling skills, organizational skills, basic mathematical skills, strong interpersonal skills.Must be computer literate and be able to use internet, printer, copy machine, fax machine, telephone, and adding machine.Committed to working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in related field required.Experience: Three to five years in higher education especially in student services/affairs, strong counseling background, ability to interact and relate effectively with students, maintain confidentiality.Preferred Qualifications

Education: Candidates with a Masters degree in counseling or related field preferred.Familiar with the Podiatric Medical Profession and the College of Podiatric Medicine preferred.Key Responsibilities

Oversees direction of student services and academic advancement for CPM students, and as an advisor/liaison among Students, Faculty, CPM Administration, Alumni and WesternU Administration on all matters related to the quality of student life.Coordinates and provides student services including, but not limited to:Serves as the administrative advisor for student cases in WesternU CPM.Assist students with interpretation of university policies and procedures.Guides prospective students with the information regarding admissions requirements.Works with students in attaining personal and academic leaves and/or withdrawal from the university in addition to assuring timely prepare appropriate documentation for presentation to the Dean.Works with students in attaining appropriate documentation for incidences likely to lead to disciplinary action and prepare appropriate documentation for presentation to the Dean.Works with the CPM students to process necessary documentation for medical leaves of absences.Assist students in proper process in regards to academic dismissal process from CPM.Assist students of CPM through an approved re-admissions process.Assist students in coping with personal emergencies or crises including serious illness or other conditions that might prolong the students leave of absence.Serve as a student liaison/advocate to faculty on student related issues.Maintains appropriate tracking and trending of attendance requirements.Monitors all advisees academic progress with regards to midterm course warnings reports and academic warning status process.Maintains students’ educational file in compliance with FERPA regulations.Prepares appropriate responses to student complaints and works with the Dean on resolutions to complaints.Provides statistics on enrollment in coordination with the USA Office for regional and professional accreditation reports as needed.Serves as a member of the following committees:Student Performance and Conduct Committee, Admissions Committee, Self-Study Committee for Accreditation. Serves on CPM Awards sub-committee, and disseminates information regarding student leadership, student community service activities and participation in student organizations.Writes letters of recommendation for student scholarships, extern/internships, and research projects.Consults with faculty members on concerns of student progress.Plans, organizes, and implements college programs such as first year orientation, honors day, commencement dinner, and other student co-curricular activities.Creates policies and procedures for CPM Student Affairs Office, and ensures that all federal and state legal requirements are maintained. Ensures Student Handbook is updated and reflects the policies of the college.Coordinates National Board Reviews, and facilitates student applications and test sites.Other duties as assigned.Work Schedule
