Chicago office of our client seeks a deputy general counsel healthcare-commercial and regulatory with 15+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in-house, advising healthcare, healthcare technology, or employee benefits companies. The candidate will work closely with legal teammates and business stakeholders at all levels and oversee legal teams which support the company's core business operations and some of its most complex matters. Responsibilities include:Collaborate closely with legal teammates and business stakeholders at all levels.Oversee legal teams handling commercial agreements, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, M&A, litigation and dispute resolution, and intellectual property protection.Advise the company and senior management on commercial transactions, including M&A, financings, and strategic partnerships.Provide guidance on regulatory compliance and corporate governance, including the Board's fiduciary duties.Manage, guide, mentor, and develop a team of legal professionals.Develop proactive strategies for risk management, regulatory compliance, and the company's best interests.Establish effective negotiation, litigation, intellectual property, and governance strategies.Build trusted cross-functional relationships.Negotiate, draft, review, and coordinate complex contracts and agreements.Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory developments, and legal best practices.Educate and train internal business teams on relevant matters.Represent the company to customers and industry functions.Help set priorities for the legal team and actively engage as a lawyer and leader within the legal department.Mastery of the healthcare industry and self-funded employer-sponsored group health plan laws, regulations, and best practices, including ERISA, state laws governing TPAs, and essential medical networks.A strong understanding of technology and its legal, ethical, and business implications is needed.Minimum Requirements:

Must have an active membership in good standing in a U.S. State Bar.
