The Senior Director, Community Programs is responsible for leading and managing the Eastern regional program team and the statewide Training and Compliance team. The Eastern regional team guides the strategy of Maryland Food Bank’s (MFB) programs on the Eastern Shore in alignment with our statewide objectives. The Training and Compliance team provides training and compliance support to the entire statewide partner network and Community Programs team.End date:

Programs / Agency Relations / ClientsJob Responsibilities:Develop an understanding of the unique character and specific needs of the Eastern region.Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to support the Director in developing and implementing strategic approaches that complement and inform our statewide approach.Build the capacity of our partner network to increase food access and focus on pathways out of hunger.Represent MFB and the Community Programs team as needed across the state.Guide and support the Director and at times take the lead in efforts to partner with other organizations to meet MFB’s strategic objectives (elected officials, funders, community institutions, and advocates).Develop an understanding and expertise of Feeding America and MFB partnership agreements, food safety, and program compliance requirements, to provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to support the Training and Compliance team.As part of the Community Programs’ leadership team, this position will play a critical role in developing and implementing goals, objectives, and priorities for the statewide team through collaborative decision-making and leadership.Assist with or lead Community Programs team initiatives and special projects and will at times be asked to represent the team in organization-wide initiatives such as strategic planning, budget development, HR, training, and DEI initiatives.Collaborate regularly with others.Basic Qualifications:Significant experience managing and motivating a team to deliver results and meet goals.At least eight (8) years of experience in project management, program management, and/or strategic planning.Five (5) years of experience managing people.Expertise in strategic planning, visioning, and evaluating results.Experience and expertise in group decision-making and principles of community development; valuing the process of listening and learning with key stakeholders to develop a long-term vision, while being able to manage multiple demands of day-to-day work simultaneously.Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking, developing presentations, networking, relationship-building, political savvy, and customer service skills.A comfort level with compliance, contracts, processes, and training.Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in a relevant field.Experience in project management and process improvements - possessing the ability to think big, but also delve into details of planning, execution, and follow-up on work plans.Deep experience with compliance, training, contracts, processes, and SOPs.Embraces collaborative decision-making and sharing decision-making authority with other team leaders.Deep experience in change management and/or program management with a history of successfully leading process improvements, community development initiatives and/or organizational changes.Benefits:Medical, Dental and Vision InsuranceWellness ProgramPaid Time Off and HolidaysEmployee Assistance ProgramEducation ReimbursementFlexible Savings Accounts (FSA)Retirement Savings Plan with Employer Match and Safe Harbor ContributionShort-Term Disability (Maryland Food Bank paid)Life Insurance (basic Maryland Food Bank paid)Accident Death & Dismemberment (Maryland Food Bank paid)Additional Life Insurance & Long-Term Disability (employee Paid)Full-time eligible employees may start most of their benefits on the first of the month following 60 days of service.The Maryland Food Bank (MFB) is a nonprofit hunger-relief organization dedicated to feeding people, strengthening communities, and ending hunger for more Marylanders by partnering with local organizations from the western mountains to the Eastern Shore.
