As a Volunteer Coordinator you will recruit, coordinate, train, select, supervise and retain volunteer services committed to the philosophy, goals and objectives of the hospice concept. This is accomplished by recruitment efforts in the community, scheduling and facilitating training, assigning volunteers to specific patients and/or facilities representing volunteers regularly with the Interdisciplinary Team, monitoring patient records and mentoring the volunteers through phone contact and ongoing training opportunities. In this role you will be responsible for:

Interacting with the Administrator to aid in the overall development and enhancement of the volunteer program and in developing and conducting a continuing program for recruiting, training, and retention of volunteersScreening, selecting, evaluating, counseling or disciplinary actions of volunteers, to ensure these individuals meet the highest standards of personal integrity, emotional maturity, responsibility, flexibility and sensitivity needs of the dying patient and familyAssuring volunteers consistently provide service time equal to no less than 5% of direct care hoursEstablishing a minimum of two distinct volunteer positions: direct care, clerical supportSupervising and establishing goals and objectives with and for the volunteer program and monitoring progress towards goals/objectivesAssigning volunteers to meet program needs appropriate to volunteers' interests and skills, including appropriate record keepingCoordinating and conducting volunteer training and orientation sessionsAssessing and identifying volunteers' educational needs and implements appropriate programsScheduling work to achieve smooth, orderly workflowCompleting a written performance evaluation of each volunteer in a timely manner on an annual basisPlanning the annual recognition program for volunteersTracking and recording volunteer hours and comprise a current and accurate volunteer cost-savings reportDocumenting and tracking appropriate volunteer statistical information and other volunteer program recordsManaging time in a cost-effective manner that demonstrates an understanding of hospice reimbursement methodologiesDeveloping solutions to staff, material or time shortagesRequired Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalentValid driver's licenseAbility to plan, organize and supervise volunteersExcellent communication both verbally and writtenAbility to motivate, interact with and recruit a diverse range of individuals in the business and communityDemonstrated problem-solving skills, organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to handle multiple priorities at one timeDesired Qualifications

Two (2) or more years of experience in health care or hospiceLocation

Home Office: 770 Kenmoor Ave, SE Grand Rapids, MIHours

Office hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
