Description
Principal DutyThe Applications Engineer works closely with the LTS Sales team to create material handling solutions for our customers. This role supports the local sales team from initial customer contact through project implementation. Responsibilities include determining requirements, selecting, and applying products, and preparing technical content for Sales proposals. Responsibilities include drawing system adaptations and extensions layouts in both 3D and 2D CAD. Project applications vary amongst modernization, facility expansions and machinery retrofits, with a focus on existing TGW implementations.
Tasks and ResponsibilitiesDesign and creation of the mechatronic material handling layouts through collaboration with LTS Retrofit Team, from initial concept to final contract design, using the TGW product portfolio and 3rd party equipment.Understand customer specifications and requirements of the material handling systems that comprise project scope.Design and development of replacement hardware and redesign existing systems to fulfill modernization needs of customers.Design and development of expansion projects for existing systems.Use engineering knowledge to perform performance calculations for the system to ensure that the selected equipment meets the specified target rates.Create mechanical costing quotation for both high level concept indications and final contract value to be rolled up into a total system pricing.Prepare technical content for proposals.Review equipment functionality and capability with LTS Sales team to support and develop sales proposals.Serve as a technical liaison to the sales team, suppliers, and customers.Travel to customer sites to survey existing systems to ensure accurate base line.Requirements Profile
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferredApplications engineering experience in materials handling environment preferredProficient in Excel, MSWord, PowerPointProficient in AutoCAD (2D), Sketchup or other 3D Design SoftwareWillingness to travel domestically up to 15-25% for training and customer support
