We are seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead the development and maintenance of a military vehicle platform software baseline.As a Senior Principal Software Engineer, you will plan, lead and perform a variety of tasks across the areas of software requirements analysis, software architecture and design, implementation (code and unit test), documentation, hardware-software integration, troubleshooting, problem solving, and software verification testing. You will guide a technical team, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, support presentations and development of proposals, and develop statements of work to both customer and vendors. You must be highly self-motivated, have strong analytical and creative troubleshooting experience, as well as solid communication and interpersonal skills. You must be able to find order with ambiguous requirements and be comfortable adapting to developing customer and business objectives.This is an onsite or hybrid on-site position working a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.Position Responsibilities:
Ensure technical, performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements are met.Ensure project outcomes are consistent with established engineering and management practices.Oversee engineering requirements analysis, design, development, test, product assurance and/or configuration management to meet cost, quality, performance, and schedule requirements.Develop and implement project plans to include detailed task definition, resource requirements, schedule, quality, and cost parameters.Assess project risk areas and develop risk mitigation plans.Prepare, monitor, and control budgets and schedules, reporting on technical, cost, and schedule status.Define and guide the technical approaches and architectures for projects.Conceptualize, create, and evaluate designs to ensure technical outcomes are consistent with customer and company requirements.Apply knowledge of multiple engineering concepts and disciplines, including customer understanding as well as in-depth knowledge of assigned product or technology area in guiding and reviewing project direction and outcomes.Resolve conflicts between subsystems or disciplines to the benefit of system performance, quality, reliability, and cost.Plan and manage internal and external resources ensuring all project obligations and objectives are met. This includes identifying and acquiring resources, providing project leadership, and anticipating and resolving inter/intra-group conflict.Continuously drive to maintain and enhance the technical reputation of BAE Systems with customers and industry.Regularly prepare, present, and defend project technical results and recommendations to external customers and internal high-level management.Participate in formal technical reviews with customers and internal technical reviews with peers and subordinates.Maintain state-of-the-art familiarity with industry practices, trends, and applications to enhance the organization’s technical capabilities.Advise senior management on new developments and evolving organizational needs and required technical knowledge.Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.8 years relevant experience including:Real-time embedded software development or testing.Use of version control and issue tracking tools.Object-oriented software architecture, software design, C coding and unit testing of embedded software with knowledge of requirements-based software verification and traceability.Practical knowledge and experience with applicable engineering processes.Contemporary design/development program experience.Two or more years as a Project Lead Engineer or equivalent with supervisory experience.Excellent teamwork, technical writing, written communication, and oral communication skills.Technical leadership and management including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closeout.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering.Familiarity with the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Program and Architecture.Expertise in a relevant technical discipline within the functional domain.Working knowledge of CMMI.Ada and/or C development experience.Experience in vehicle networking protocol tools such as CAN, Ethernet and their associated diagnostic tools.Experience in 1553 Serial Data Communication bus.Experience in combat vehicle design, operation and testing.Experience with developing safety critical code.Hold a Cyber Security Certification.Pay Information:
Full-Time Salary Range: $126610 - $215270. Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.Employee Benefits:
