This position is located under the Office of Field Operations, Washington Field Division, located in Washington, District of Columbia.The Division Operations Officer is responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring the functions of the Division Operations Office. The position has responsibility for directing a staff involved in planning, management, and evaluation activities. The Division Operations Office serves as the principal liaison between division personnel, the Special Agent in Charge (SAC), Director of Industry Operations (DIO), Assistant Special Agent(s) in Charge (ASAC), other components of the Bureau, and other government agencies in matters relating to the division's operational activities, and its intelligence and administrative programs. The Division Operations Office is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of division programs; developing and evaluating procedures or policies that will increase the effectiveness of division programs; tracking and analyzing funds allocations and preparing budget reports; and coordinating and overseeing all division data processing and office automation hardware/software.

Typical duties may include:Initiates, plans, and directs studies, surveys, operational reviews, or other projects to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the division.Provides law enforcement expertise in advising from policy, resource, and standard operating practice standpoints on long and short-range resources and operating plans.Represents the division in developing formal and informal agreements with other law enforcement, regulatory, and tax collecting agencies concerning joint operations, reporting procedures, sharing of resources, etc.Plans, develops, and executes a program relating to division operational reviews. These reviews involve visits to each office to determine whether operational procedures, organizational structure, etc.Participating in an active investigative role; or for the purpose of observing, assessing, and evaluating investigative techniques, the use of unique tactical equipment, the effectiveness and efficiency of standard practices in an operational environment, the effectiveness of training and intelligence support, etc.Salary

To qualify for a GS-14, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13.Specialized experience

is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.

Specialized experience is :Initiating, planning, and directing studies, surveys, operational reviews, or other projects to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the division; ANDDeveloping and evaluating procedures or policies, determining the need for and formulating overall plans for special programs and directing their implementation, and overseeing overall administrative matters affecting the division's operations and personnel; ANDProviding law enforcement expertise to high-level division and Headquarters officials and managers; advising on policy, resource, and standard operating practice standpoints on long- and short-range resources and operating plans; ANDProviding leadership to others such as work groups, teams or special projects; ANDReviewing and evaluating the projects and comprehensive reports submitted by subordinate personnel.
