Description

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Staff HR, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the Staff HR Office with general HR services, policies, and programs for the Department of Ophthalmology. Specific areas of responsibility include assisting with HR Administration, HR Compliance, Payroll Management, and Staffing/Recruitment in conjunction with UCLA Health HR. The incumbent assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and communicates proactively with direct supervisor, HR Manager/Director, and UCLA Health HR.

Salary Range: $26.10 - 49.38Qualifications

REQUIRED:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.1-3 years of experience with Microsoft Office.Working knowledge of procedures and practices that govern HR administration, preferably in a university environment.Analytical skills to conduct analysis, develop recommendations, and resolve organizational issues.Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize work and manage divergent needs.Working knowledge of human resources concepts, employment practices, employee/labor relations, salary administration, recruitment, training, and other areas of human resources.Ability to work independently or with a team and complete projects within specified deadlines.Skilled in handling sensitive information and/or situations and maintaining strict confidentiality.Skilled in meeting deadlines despite frequent interruptions.Skilled in composing business, personnel, and/or payroll correspondence.Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively relay and obtain information, explain policies and procedures, and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with diverse audiences, including faculty, staff, and students.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with department staff, managers, and colleagues.Knowledge of benefits and retirement programs, preferably in a university environment; ability to interpret and communicate complex benefits information to employees at all levels.PREFERRED:1 year in General Human Resources experience or in a specific responsibility area.1 year UCPath/PeopleSoft or applicable enterprise software.1 year HBS or timekeeping system.
