Tax Associate Attorney

A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Tax Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in transactional tax matters and tax controversy. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with federal income tax, with additional experience in state tax matters and tax-exempt organizations considered a plus. Strong research and writing abilities, combined with an excellent academic record from an ABA-accredited law school, are required. Bar admission in Illinois is necessary.Duties:Provide expert legal counsel on federal income tax matters, including compliance, planning, and dispute resolution.Manage state tax issues and offer strategic advice on compliance and tax planning.Represent clients in tax-related controversies before federal and state tax authorities.Advise clients on the tax implications and strategies for transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.Draft and review legal documents, such as tax opinions, memoranda, and other related correspondence.Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support tax-related strategies and client advice.Monitor and interpret changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate and timely client guidance.Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external parties to develop and implement effective tax strategies.Requirements:3-5 years of experience in transactional tax matters and tax controversy within a law firm environment.Significant experience with federal income tax matters.Experience with state taxes and tax-exempt organizations is highly desirable.Strong research and writing skills.Excellent academic background from an ABA-accredited law school.Bar admission required for the jurisdiction of practice (Illinois).Education:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.Certifications:Bar admission in Illinois or eligibility to obtain.Skills:In-depth knowledge of federal income tax laws and regulations.Proficiency in managing state tax issues and familiarity with tax-exempt organizations.Exceptional legal research and writing capabilities.Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to manage multiple cases and tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Client-focused approach with the ability to build and sustain strong client relationships.Company infoBCG Attorney Search200 South Wacker Drive, 31st FloorChicagoIllinoisUnited States 60606Phone :
