The Community Data Exchange Collaborative (CDEC) is a Program of the Public Health Institute (PHI) with a focus on building the capacity of groups to work together to transform their communities into healthier environments. PHI has been dedicated to promoting health, well-being, and quality of life for people throughout California, across the nation, and around the world. PHI strives to generate and promote research, leadership, and partnerships to build capacity for strong public health policy, programs, systems, and practices.The CDEC leads the Ventura County Community Information Exchange (VCCIE), navigating the intersection of health and social services through information sharing and coordinated care.The Communications Coordinator is responsible for providing Spanish language marketing materials, translation services, and outreach support for the VCCIE including attending in-person and virtual events. The individual hired for this position must be able to attend events that take place on weekends or outside standard business hours as required.This is a time-limited, regular part-time position that can be between 10% FTE (4 hours/week) and 40% FTE (16 hours/week). The starting FTE will be determined upon hire.This position is expected to end on July 31, 2025, with the possibility to extend dependent on availability of additional funding. At PHI, a time-limited position is defined as regular employment with an expected end date of no more than one year from the beginning of the position. In rare circumstances, time-limited positions may be extended (e.g., when additional funding is available) to a maximum total length of up to eighteen (18) months from the start of the employee's original time-limited position.Work Location: This is a hybrid (both remote and in-person) position based in Ventura County, California. The candidate must be prepared to work remotely in Ventura County and have equipment (or access to equipment) to perform all duties in a non-standard office environment. The candidate must have access to reliable transportation to attend community events located throughout Ventura County. The individual hired for this position must live in Ventura County.Full pay range for this position: $27.57 to $39.31 per hour. The typical hiring range for this position is from $27.57 (minimum) to $33.44 (midpoint) per hour. The starting wage is determined based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Providing support for the Communications Department:General writing and editing support in the communications department including contributing to the creation of

press releases, newsletters, web copy, digital media, and promotional and collateral materials as needed.Assist with maintaining the VCCIE website by collecting and uploading content and images in WordPress, updating existing information, and soliciting and translating content from PHI and VCCIE staff.Along with the Junior Project Manager, upload and format content to internal- and external-facing email newsletters; write and coordinate e-mailings and monitor reports.Promote the work and brand of PHI and VCCIE.Admin support including conference and event preparation and attendance.Assist staff and project directors with communications needs.Contribute to report writing and committee meeting materials.Attend in-person and virtual events that take place on weekends or outside standard business hours as required.Travel to attend community events located throughout Ventura County.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications

One year of professional communications experience including website development.Associate's degree, or you can substitute with two additional years of related experience.Other Qualifications

Must be fluent in English and Spanish with the ability to read, write, speak, and translate.Experience in social work or public health preferred.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals.Experience with social media platforms including Facebook/Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.Ability to use Zoom, WebEx or other remote communication tools.Professional experience with Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams), as well as tools for document tracking and version control (G-suite, Trello, Asana, or similar).Ability to develop newsletters and other written communications.Ability to learn new technical functions.Ability to communicate technical information in a clear manner.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Availability for travel to locations within Ventura County.Equipped to work fully remotely.Demonstrated understanding of racial and social justice work from a communications perspective preferred.Experience using online design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud) preferred.Experience with event planning preferred.Experience with CMS/EMS/CRM platforms such as Constant Contact, Salesforce, Mailchimp and/or website platforms such as Wix or WordPress preferred.Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business, social work, public health, or a related field is preferred.EEO Statement
