Summary

The Downtown Women's Center (DWC) is in the midst of an exciting period of growth and seeks an energetic and innovative leader to identify and implement new fundraising strategies to increase giving from individual donors. The Director of Individual Giving will be a strategic thinker and relationship builder, with a with a proven track record of soliciting and stewarding mid-level and major gifts from individuals, team management and leadership, and aligning diverse stakeholders around a common purpose. An excellent project manager and creative problem solver, the successful candidate will support a growing team of development professionals responsible for fundraising through digital campaigns, direct mail, major gifts, and planned giving, and oversee the department's donor tracking, stewardship, and acknowledgement efforts. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director will lead a team of five, including three direct reports: Donor Relations Manager, Capital Campaign Coordinator, and Major Gifts Officer.

Essential Functions

Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and senior leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive individual giving strategy, including major gifts, planned giving, monthly giving, direct mail, and digital fundraising that aligns with the organization's overall fundraising and development goals.Lead the 5-person individual giving team, including direct supervision of the Major Gifts Officer, Donor Relations Manager, and Capital Campaign Coordinator. Build team cohesion, monitor performance, conduct annual staff reviews, and support staff in achieving professional development goals.Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects in coordination with the Major Gifts Officer. Engage the CDO, CEO, and board members in building and stewarding relationships with current and prospective donors.Oversee the planning and execution of annual fund campaigns.Develop and track KPI's to evaluate and improve performance of individual giving strategies.Develop short and long-term strategic goals for your team, including timelines, budgets, and work plans; assess areas for growth and provide leadership in launching new donor initiatives.Support regular board and development committee meetings as needed.Coordinate with the Communications Team to develop donor-centric stewardship and fundraising collateral and messaging.Ensure appropriate tracking systems are in place, including constituent relations management system, gifts processing, and acknowledgement.Ensure all donations are properly acknowledged and donors are thanked in a timely manner.Ensure data quality and accuracy for all donation and constituent information in DWC's CRM database, Bloomerang.Analyze DWC's existing planned giving program, the Jill Halverson Legacy Circle, and develop strategy for engaging existing donors and adding new donors based on emerging trends in planned giving.Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective individual donors, ensuring a high level of donor engagement and satisfaction.Support DWC's Capital Campaign by identifying prospects, developing solicitation materials, and stewarding donor relationships.Other duties as assigned to further the mission of DWC and the Development Team.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position would also require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt position. Office hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary

Travel

This position requires local travel, as well as occasional travel within the United States for conferences and trainings.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

Minimum of Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.3 - 5 years of progressive fundraising, nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, marketing, or communications experience required2 - 3 years of direct staff supervision experience requiredExperience supporting organizations and teams through periods of change and growth.Exceptional skill in coaching, leadership, and team development.Demonstrated experience in relationship management, sales and marketing, and/or external relations.Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills; ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment and proven experience managing large-scale projects.Strong judgment and decision making - the ability to identify critical information and use it to choose effective courses of action.Demonstrated success as a team player, including the ability to develop and maintain a goal-oriented, positive attitude throughout the organizationAbility to comfortably interface with board members, organizational leadership, donors, and general DWC community.Self-starter capable of working independently.Compassion and understanding of DWC's unique approach to service provision.Commitment to racial equity and social justice; recognition of the role of race, gender, and other identities in contributing to homelessness and inequityMust be a CA resident and live no more than 80 miles from DWC; must be available for in-person meetings at DWCMust provide documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months, on first day of hireYou will be required to be up to date on your vaccinations against COVID-19 and provide documentation. If you are fully vaccinated and not yet eligible to receive a booster dose, then you must receive the booster dose within 30 days of becoming eligible and eligibility begins 5 months after receiving the final primary dose. If you are fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose, you are considered up to date with your vaccinations. Unvaccinated individuals must receive their 1st dose before their first day of hire. Partially vaccinated (for 2-dose series) individuals must receive their 2nd dose within 30 days of being hired. The second dose of a two-dose vaccine series is due 4 weeks after the primary dose.

Pay Range

$85,000 - $95,000
