Job Summary
The Senior Data Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the corporate master data program primarily relating to operational, customer, revenue, and vendor data domains. In this role, you will ensure the highest data integrity, governance, and service to internal and external customers. You will support developing and improving master data management to increase operational efficiency, provide high-integrity informational reporting, strengthen data governance, and increase data value by deploying user-friendly processes and system tools and simplifying data architecture.
Essential Functions
Develop and implement an overall organizational data strategy that aligns with business processes, including data model designs, database development standards, implementation, and management of data warehouses and data analytics systems.Identify data sources, both internal and external, and devise a plan for data management that is aligned with organizational data strategy.Support Enterprise Data Architecture roadmap by managing architectural runway for enterprise data model and relevant enterprise data platform capabilities.Help develop standards and best practices for data modeling, databases, ETL/ELT, and Analytics.Provide technical oversight and guidance on data architecture decision-making.Conduct a continuous audit of data management system performance, refine whenever required, and report immediately any breaches or loopholes to the stakeholders.Define and implement data governance policies and standards.Stay informed of emerging data technologies and recommend solutions for enterprise adoption.Design logical and physical data models for complex enterprise systems.Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across disparate sources.Lead the design and implementation of data warehouses and data lakes.Understand data security best practices and implement appropriate safeguards.Translate business needs into technical solutions for data management.Collaborate effectively with stakeholders across IT and business functions.Mentor and guide junior data architects and data engineers.Manage and prioritize data architecture projects within budget and timelines.Develop and maintain project documentation for future reference.Track project progress and report on key metrics to stakeholders.Skills and Experience
8-10 years of experience in data architecture or a related field (data engineering, data warehousing)Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise-scale data solutionsExperience working within a large enterprise environmentLeadership experience in managing and mentoring data teamsData Modeling: Expertise in logical and physical data modeling techniquesDatabase Management: Deep understanding of relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases and implementation experience with technologies like Snowflake, AWS RedShift, etc.Experience with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, data lakes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)Data Integration & ETL/ELT: Experience with data integration tools and processes for data movement like AWS Glue or similar technologiesData Governance: Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practicesData Security: Understanding of data security principles and encryption techniquesData Analytics: Experience with analytics tools like Tableau or Power BIProgramming Languages: Proficiency in SQL, potentially with scripting languages (Python) for automationCommunication: Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiencesCollaboration: Strong teamwork and leadership skills to guide junior team membersProject Management: Experience managing complex data architecture projectsAnalytical Thinking: Ability to analyze data requirements and design optimal solutionsProblem-Solving: Skills to troubleshoot and resolve data management challengesWork Environment
