GIS Administrator - Administrative Division(Pay: $30.45 - $48.72 / hour)

The purpose of this classification is to administer Geographic Information System (GIS) and related databases.

Essential Functions

:Creates, maintains, and updates GIS database.Provides short, middle and long-range planning.Manages GIS servers and software.Creates and designs custom GIS applications.Provides technical support for custom applications and packaged software products.Organizes geospatial data.Evaluates performance and effectiveness of current GIS services and systems.Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.Operates a personal computer and other electronic devices.Communicates with DPU Division Directors, supervisor, other employees, clients, third party service contractors, laborers, the public, and other individuals as needed.May be required to work after normal business hours, weekends, holidays, Standby Duty or be called out as needed 24 hours/day 7 days/week.Performs other related duties as required.Minimum Qualifications

:

Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Information Engineering, cartography, planning, engineering or a related field required; supplemented by three years of experience in administering, creating and maintaining GIS databases, servers and applications; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Must reside within a radius of Orangeburg, SC that allows for a 30-minute maximum response.Must possess valid South Carolina Driver's License.Must possess and maintain a valid Geographic Information Systems Professional Certification (GISP) or equivalent experience.Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:

Must have GIS training with strong knowledge of SQL databases.Must have considerable experience with ESRI software and a fundamental understanding of object-oriented programming.
