Construction EstimatorJob DescriptionRapidly growing commercial construction company is seeking an experienced construction estimator to assist in the search, estimation, and submission of bids for a variety of general construction projects. Duties will include but are not limited to: identifying and verifying bid opportunities matching company capabilities, plan takeoffs, estimating, composing letters and correspondences, field site visits, data entry using spreadsheets and company database, review and edit information accordingly.Essential FunctionsReview construction documents and understand scope of work relating to bid.Create and manage internal bid process with subcontractors.Organize and issue formal Bid Invitations to Subcontractors and Suppliers on projects targeted.Communicate with subcontractors and answer all technical questions received from subcontractors.Execute takeoffs of construction documents.Accurately prepare a detailed Bid or cost estimate, when appropriate, of all aspects of a proposed project including but not limited to quantity take off, detailed cost estimate, item and subcontractor/Vendor summary by division.Obtaining and managing bids from subcontractors.Prepare cost analysis using Excel spreadsheet by summarizing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.Create an estimate, where predetermined standard(s) are not available.Maintain the Subcontractor and Supplier database by constantly cultivating and seeking out additional qualified Subcontractors and Suppliers.Develop and maintain a database of resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.Attend pre-bid meetings as required.Attend departmental meetings as required.Whenever needed participate in estimating the cost of Change Orders for projects in progress.Suggest Value Engineering concepts and coordinate application with management.Required Education and ExperienceFour (4) years of related experience or training within either a specialized trade or a general construction environment.Bilingual a plusExperience using Microsoft Office, Construct Connect, CivCast and on- screen take-off software such as Bluebeam.Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
