Our Top Tier Legal 500 ranked Commercial Property Department is currently looking for an experienced non-contentious Construction Law Solicitor to join the established team at Solicitor or Associate level, dependent on experience. The role will be based between our dedicated Commercial and Agriculture hub on Gadbrook Park, Northwich and our Bramhall office, although can be flexible.The Butcher & Barlow Commercial Property team has a diverse and extensive client base, acting for a full spectrum of clients across a range of transactions. The Construction Law team specifically works with contractors, developers, property owners, sub-contractors, consultants, suppliers, banks, purchasers and investors.You will be working directly with experienced and professionally recognised Partners and Associates to continue to grow and promote the Firm’s reputation and client base.Our aim at Butcher & Barlow is to build long-term relationships with our clients through trust and respect and underpinning those relationships with a sense of togetherness and a common goal. We work with our clients, not for them, working with them to make the right decisions.We work with each other with the same integrity, inspiring confidence in our clients, professional contacts and colleagues through our collaborative approach, working as a team to progress matters quickly and efficiently.Who we are looking forOur ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor with 5 years plus PQE in Construction Law.You should have the ability to run and maintain a varied case load covering a broad range of Construction Law matters including professional appointments, building contracts and sub contracts, third party rights and collateral warranties, advising on the construction aspects of lease and development agreements, performing due diligence and advising on the construction aspects of broader real estate and real estate finance matters.You should want to make a real difference to the team, working collaboratively with other teams, both contentious and non-contentious, within the Firm, sharing knowledge and undertaking business development.What we expect of youYou should:Have a clear and developed understanding of construction law and its commercial application and experience of working with the main published standard forms of building contracts.Have a proven track record of advising clients on complex construction projects, possess excellent negotiation skills, and demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations.Have the ability to manage your own caseload, but be a collaborative team player.Be comfortable building relationships with other teams across the Firm.Be comfortable maintaining and strengthening existing client and professional relationships and helping build new relationships.Have competent IT skills including the use of a case and document management system and be willing to learn new technology.Be an excellent communicator, both face to face and over the telephone.Have the ability to draft and prepare clear and concise documents, with attention to detail.Have the ability to work accurately under pressure.Have good time and file management skills and be able to prioritise tasks.Have an interest in marketing and in developing the Firm’s practice including attendance at business development events and working with and supporting the Firm’s marketing function in order to drive the growth of the department.Competitive salary plus bonus based on financial performance and additional discretionary bonus.Starting annual leave of 25 days plus bank holidays.Flexible home working in accordance with the Firm’s Home Working Policy.
