The Program Delivery and Support unit is seeking to hire a Transit Technology Project Manager to serve as a key integrator between IT and Transit on all technology projects related to transit vehicles and systems utilized by Maintenance, Operations, MOW, and other subdivisions in Transit.The selected candidate shall have extensive technical competency of projects related to Battery Electric Bus technology, charging infrastructure technology, and onboard systems, and is expected to work cross-functionally with engineers, consultants, vendors, and installers to deliver transit technology projects within budget and adhering to schedule.It is highly desirable that this candidate possess strong written and communication skills to collaborate successfully with various teams and agencies.EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Works with IT, Transit Technology, and various systems providers to deploy and manage onboard vehicle projects.Provides oversight and approval for changes to vehicle onboard systems prior to implementation.Works with IT and system owners to audit and consolidate vehicle onboard systems.Develops standard operating procedures pertaining to vehicle onboard systems and yard management.Serves as liaison to IT to communicate feedback from Transit on vehicle projects.Develops budgets, schedules, and plans for various project elements.Analyzes data processing needs and assists in developing evaluation criteria for software.Coordinates with outside vendors and contractors to complete projects.Performs other related duties as assigned.How to qualify

Education:An associate degree in business administration, public administration, information systems, economics, finance, computer science, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units.Experience:Three (3) years in the information systems field, including system analysis, business process design, and IT project management.Substitution:Additional experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years).Desirable Qualifications:Direct experience with transit vehicles, vehicle systems, and vehicle procurement.Knowledge of CAD/AVL and ITS (Intelligent Transportation System).Ability to work well with a multi-disciplinary, diverse workforce.Experience in public sector procurement and project management.Excellent written and oral communication skills.VERIFICATION:Applicants may be required to submit verification of qualifying education and experience at any point during the recruitment and selection process.SELECTION PROCEDURE:After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process.What else should I know?A confidential eligible list of applicant names will be created for certification purposes only.The City and County of San Francisco encourages women, minorities, and persons with disabilities to apply.
