Through its work to strengthen brand perception, student recruitment, alumni engagement and fundraising, University Marketing advances William & Mary’s distinctive excellence, raises its profile worldwide and secures its financial foundation — creating meaningful connections and wide-ranging impact for all times coming.Position Summary: The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Donor Engagement Events as part of the dynamic donor engagement events team and will partner with the alumni engagement team in support of the W&M Advancement mission, assisting with events and event programming to engage friends and donors of the university, hosted by the Office of University Advancement. Working collaboratively with colleagues in University Marketing, University Advancement and across campus, the Assistant Director will assist in event management and programming, as well as marketing and messaging for events and event programming.
The successful Assistant Director of Donor Engagement Events will be an innovator who will foster a culture of belonging that embraces all people and perspectives. This is a hybrid position based in Williamsburg, Virginia, that offers a flexible work environment.This position may require additional hours beyond the typical workday/week to include evenings and weekends.Must have flexibility to travel, and ability to use one’s own reliable personal transportation as required.Must be able to lift 25 lbs.Essential Designation: NoFLSA: ExemptPosition Restricted?: No, this is a continuing E&G funded position and not term-limitedPosition Term: 12-MonthPosition Months: Faculty or Staff: 12 monthRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and or experience.Experience in event planning or coordination to create comprehensive event timelines from conception through follow-up in a for-profit or nonprofit environment.Knowledge of event marketing through both conventional and new, unconventional methods.Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the proven ability to work collaboratively as a team player as well as develop and foster communication and teamwork with a diverse audience including alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students and the University community.Excellent problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities.Demonstrated experience with a variety of software applications, including MS Office, and a variety of databases and web-based applications.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of the campus, mission and traditions of William & Mary.Demonstrated creativity with the ability to develop strategies for donor or constituent engagement opportunities.Demonstrated skills using online event registration systems as well as experience with Blackbaud, Salesforce or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.Is the position remote work eligible?: Hybrid (works remotely at least 1 day per week but not full-time)Remote Work Disclaimer: Remote work eligibility is not guaranteed and is subject to approval.
