State SupportBrief Summary of Job Duties:Morgan State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. School of Engineering. The chair will manage all operations of the department, including those related to its offered programs, faculty, staff, and budget and finance. This is a 12-month, tenured faculty appointment at the rank of full professor.The chair is the academic and administrative officer for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering with responsibilities that include but are not limited to the following:Providing the strategic vision and academic leadership toward advancing educational and administrative agendas for innovative initiatives;Overseeing the management and promotion of excellence within the instructional, service, and research mission of the department;Collaborating with the dean and university administration on policy development and implementation;Directing hiring, promotion, and retention of faculty and staff at the department level;Guiding the development and oversight of undergraduate and graduate curricula and degree programs;Managing department resources and participating in fundraising activities;Developing external relationships to support the department’s strategic initiatives.Requested Minimum Qualifications:EDUCATION:The successful candidate must have earned a terminal degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline.EXPERIENCE:A minimum of four (4) years experience at the rank of full professor or promotable to this rank.A record of accomplishments in teaching, research, and demonstrated engagement in leadership and administration.Other Preferences for Consideration:A record of success in fundraising and securing external support.Experience with interdisciplinary collaborations and the development of innovative programs.Posting Number:
