Posted Friday, February 16, 2024 at 5:00 AMPOSITION SUMMARYThe Director, Safety and Security is responsible for overseeing safety and security operations for the Dr. Phillips Center to ensure the safety and security of colleagues, guests and property assets. The Director establishes, administers, and leads safety, security and loss prevention programs for the center. Key areas of responsibility include: protection of company assets; risk identification, evaluation and mitigation; safety and security training; and record-keeping and investigation of incidents, property damage and property loss. The Director manages the security & safety teams and is the primary liaison with city services (Police, Fire, EMT, Traffic control, etc.).The Director works in conjunction with Production, Programming and Events on artist/event security establishing a safe and welcoming experience for all colleagues, guests and visitors to the center.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIESLead and direct Security operations. Establish, implement, and administer security procedures and protocols; regularly review and evaluate procedures to ensure effectiveness. Remains informed of security risks; recommends and implements plans to mitigate potential risks. Routinely inspects physical premises to ensure building and asset security. Verifies that all security staff are knowledgeable of procedures and can perform required job functions.Cultivate culture of safety and security through sustained, effective practices and leadership. Lead safety initiatives to include facilitating monthly safety meetings. Collaborates with People & Culture to identify safety and security training programs. Administers the scheduling and communication of the following programs: Life Safety, Crowd Management, Evacuation Procedures, ADA, CPR/AED/First Aid and OSHA-10 for General Industry. Manages safety topic of the month program.Responsible for protective equipment (i.e. video surveillance, metal detectors, alarm systems, badge access system); trains security and facility operations team on the proper use of systems. Regularly inspects functionality of equipment and maintains inspection logs. Identify opportunities to create efficiencies in our current business processes in both security and safety through new technology. Research, review and recommend enhancements. Leads the implementation of new systems.Develop and maintain Incident Response SOP’s and guide. Trains colleagues and security staff on responsibilities related to specific incidents/situations. Coordinates regular Emergency Procedure drills and maintains records of drills. Collaborate with Director, Facilities on emergency responses (i.e. mechanical alarms, fire alarm, severe weather).Schedule and supervise security staff according to business needs. Develop daily and weekly assignments. Provide ongoing training to security personnel.Reviews security reports for accuracy/detail; conducts investigations and recommends any needed action; communicates information to Sr. Leadership. Follows up with departments as needed. Complies with all record retention guidelines.Collaborate with Production, Programming and Events on artist/event security. Communicate with show security as needed. Manages vehicle parking accommodations for VIP’s and show/event staff. Communicates information to security and operations team (as needed). Leads pre-shift security huddle.Responsible for scheduling and communication of Orlando Police Department, Orlando Fire Department / EMT, City of Orlando Traffic Division and other government agencies. Create and maintain positive relationships with same.Leads the safety and security audit/inspection program. Ensures audits are conducted and reports submitted. Reviews audits to determine gaps; identifies corrective action options; champions best practices; and implements changes. Conduct risk assessments and recommend solutions to mitigate identified risk. Maintains reports of all assessments.Maintains compliance with city/county/state regulations and OSHA for the safe operation of our business. Knowledgeable of laws pertaining to our business operation.Handle complaints and requests in a professional and respectful manner. Maintains confidentiality of all internal investigations. Maintains discretion in all matters.Attend and participate in local, regional, national and industry safety/security briefings and workshops.Adheres to all budgetary guidelines. Follow and support all operational policies and procedures. Assimilate into the arts center culture through understanding, supporting and demonstrating the core values.Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with other departments, colleagues, and partners.Able to remain calm under pressure. Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy. Maintain Dr. Phillips Center standards of customer service at all times.Able to effectively communicate in English in both written and oral forms.Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE10 years of security/safety experience with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. Prefer candidates with hospitality/entertainment experience.Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement recommended.Experience in risk assessment and mitigation. Able to comprehend situations and identify successful resolutions. Effective verbal communications skills. Ability to de-escalate situations.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experienced in writing SOP’s, training guides and reports (investigations). Effective presentation skills; experience in training others.Proficient with security related technology. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, TEAMS, Excel and PowerPoint.Ability to adapt to change, work effectively under pressure and produce accurate results in a fast-paced environment.Work well in a team environment.SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTThis position requires the ability to work a variable schedule, evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs.Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.Must complete OSHA-10 General Industry certification within 6 months of assuming role.Dr. Phillips Center participates in an employment electronic eligibility verification program through E-Verify.Pay Type: Salary
