Rutland, VTSUMMARY:The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) serves as a member of the executive leadership team. This position is responsible for developing and implementing the human resources strategic plan in accordance with the short and long-term strategic objectives of the organization. The CHRO is responsible for achieving objectives by establishing goals; developing budgets; controlling costs and maximizing use of assets. Provides oversight and direction to the human resources division including Talent Management, Compensation & Benefits, and Organizational Learning Effectiveness.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for holding accountable, coaching, and developing Human Resources and Training and Development team/leadership.Provides creative solutions and strategies to align Human Resources strategy to the overall credit union strategic and cultural plan.Partner with company’s Executive Leadership team and other key senior leaders to shape HR strategy, serving as the internal expert on talent and culture trends. Function as a strategic business advisor to senior management regarding key organizational and management issues.In partnership with the Executive Leadership team, formulate, communicate, and drive the CU cultural model throughout all levels of the organization. Responsible for evaluating company culture and providing recommendations for improvement to accomplish long-term company goals and objectives. Leads ongoing culture initiatives and ensure focus and progress on the organization’s diversity, equity, and inclusion journey.Drives talent recruitment, retention, and development initiatives. Develops and implements talent acquisition processes to ensure the hiring of qualified staff that align with the CU’s strategic plan and culture.Recommends, develops, implements, and monitors effective and appropriate total compensation and bonus plans linked to performance and in alignment with the Credit Union’s achievement of key objectives. Ensures equitable and competitive salaries and salary structures across the organization.Recommends, implements, and oversees administration of all company-sponsored benefits plans; actively maintains vendor relationship with benefits brokers, ensures benefits offerings support employee recruitment and retention.Oversee the implementation of an effective performance management system tied closely to the business objectives to help build top-performing teams across all areas of the organization.Provides advice and counsel to leaders regarding their team leadership, including individual and team development, business decision-making, performance management and problem solving.Monitors emerging trends within the human resource discipline and financial services industry to propose and implement practices, programs, systems, and tools that advance CU Credit Union’s reputation as an employer of choice.Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Maintains up to date knowledge on potential legal and regulatory impacts on HR. Monitors potential legal exposure to the company on employment-related matters.Attend training sessions (Town Halls) and complete required training in a timely manner. Attend and participate in other group or company meetings as required. Have a good understanding of products and services that the credit union offers to their members.Maintain a clean and well-organized work area as well as contribute to the overall cleanliness of the HFCU properties.Perform other duties as assigned by management. Assist other staff within the credit union as needed.JOB COMPETENCIES/REQUIREMENTS:Conscientious, comfortable with detail, and the ability to multi-task to coordinate and prioritize the workday efficiently.Strong interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills.Good writing and verbal communication skills and ability to prepare organized and well-written documents.Strong working knowledge of employment law, practices, policies, and models.Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound judgments.Handle all information/documents in a confidential and secure manner.EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s Degree with ten plus years similar or related experience. HR Certification (SHRM or HRCI) preferred.WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT:This position requires sitting for long periods of time and working primarily at a workstation in an open office environment. Daily tasks include extensive use of a computer performing standard keyboard functions, requiring repeated motion, as well as extensive use of the phone. Work additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
