Tuesday 8:30-1:45pmThursday 8:30-12:30pm.Job SummaryThe Tanner Dance Program was created in 1949 and continues to nurture an appreciation of dance, music, literature, theater, and visual arts at the University of Utah main campus in the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts and Education Complex. The Tanner Dance Fine Arts Preschool is looking to fill a lead preschool dance teacher position for our 2-day a week Fine Arts Preschool Program.This part-time teaching position could include hours within our Fine Arts Preschool Program and our Tanner Dance Studio Program. The Fine Art Preschool 2 Day Program is held on Tuesday 8:30-1:45 pm and Thursday 8:30-12:30 pm. Teaching assignments in the Tanner Dance Studio Program are hours as available. Experience in teaching creative dance to 3-5 years old is required.Candidate must demonstrate the ability to care, nurture, and enjoy preschool-aged children. Additional Tanner Dance philosophy and Fine Arts Preschool program training will be provided to augment the expertise that the candidate is already bringing to the position. A background check will be a requirement of the University of Utah before working with minors.Preferred Qualifications:Degree seeking, or degree holding candidate in Dance, Music or Early Childhood DevelopmentKnowledge and experience in early childhood developmentExperience in dance, and teaching creative dance to preschool age childrenMust have patience, be kind, compassionate, caring, nurturing, and enjoy working with children ages 3-5 years oldMust be able to teach age appropriate lessons and move during a dance classMust pass a background checkDemonstrate skills in creating engaging classroom lesson plans – preparation, execution, and adaptation to meet the evolving needs of the classroomAdditional InformationThe University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”).
