Eigen Therapeutics Inc.
Scientist/Senior Scientist
Eigen Therapeutics Inc., Redwood City, California, United States, 94061
Eigen Therapeutics is a biotech startup dedicated to developing better treatments for cancer at scale. At Eigen, we believe that tackling tumor heterogeneity is essential for the future of oncology therapeutics and we are pioneering a heterogeneity-centric approach for the discovery of effective combination therapies. We are developing a platform to discover therapies that improve the therapeutic window of antigen-directed therapies, increasing their efficacy and reducing their toxicity. We’re seeking a versatile, multidisciplinary scientist who is excited to utilize their cross functional expertise to develop impactful platforms and technologies for interrogating biological systems. As one of Eigen's earliest employees, you will play a large role alongside us in shaping the development of our platform, our culture, and our company as a whole.Key Responsibilities:
Be a project leader for identifying novel therapeutic strategies to overcome tumor heterogeneity-driven resistance to targeted therapeutics.Design overall project plan and associated experiments to drive key decisions based on mechanistic understanding of key cancer/immune signaling pathways, then execute experiments in the laboratory, analyze data, and present results.Develop and optimize flow cytometry-based assays for a range of models, including ex vivo cancer patient samples (hematologic and solid tumor), primary normal tissues, and in vitro cancer cell lines. Ensure scalability of these assays and their effectiveness in addressing key questions of therapeutic window in various oncology contexts.Execute high throughput screens on assays optimized in cancer or normal cells to prioritize selected compounds/targets and progress Eigen’s drug pipeline.Work collaboratively with the Eigen team to troubleshoot scientific and technical issues.Work closely with engineers to continually improve platform efficiency and expand platform functionality across automation, software, and data science.Communicate effectively, foster teamwork, and contribute to project strategy discussions.Have a strong commitment to quality and demonstrate adaptability.Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in cell biology, immunology or related field or 5-7 years of relevant industry experience.Extensive experience in making decisions and solving problems utilizing a diverse set of sources and individuals to fully understand a problem.Proven track record working on innovative methods to tackle problems and openness to continually learning new skills.Experience researching, diagnosing and identifying solutions to troubleshoot scientific and technical issues. Demonstrated interest in working as a team, across disciplines, on translational science.Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in cell biology, immunology or related field and 1-3 years of industry experience.Experience with multicolor flow cytometry (10 color+), NGS workflows, high throughput screening.Expertise in cancer biology and/or immuno-oncology.Experience in early stage start-up environment.
