Escondido, CA, United StatesSummary/ObjectiveAs a result of growth, the Nikkiso CEIG group has decided, in conjunction with the Chairman of NFS, to open a new engineering and manufacturing facility in Escondido, CA. NFS is looking for a General Manager who will lead the operational activities of the NFS Escondido operations. The General Manager will be based in the Escondido area and is part of a matrix organization structure reporting to the President of NFS and will also support other Nikkiso functional units.Essential Functions/ResponsibilitiesResponsible for all aspects of manufacturing and service activities including personnel, quality, safety, cost, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, planning, and business controls.Plans and organizes daily activities related to production and operations.Responsible for P+L, budget, and achievement of established financials and performance targets.Provides site leadership through effective communication, coaching, and accountability.Ensures continuous improvement and swift problem resolution in an open, fair, and unselfish manner.Manages material requirements to increase inventory turnover and reduce stock/inventory levels on hand.Implementation of systems and structure for continuous 2C5+ cost cutting measures, an initiative to cut costs by 5% every 2 years.Utilize the ERP system and optimize the system to provide KPI’s and metrics for operational management and improvement. Support the implementation of group-wide rollout of new ERP system.Determines labor needs to meet production goals and responsible for appropriate staffing levels for each functional unit at the facility.Ensures compliance with state & federal regulations and Nikkiso CEIG policies.Identifies and secures capital investments needed for growth and improvement projects following CEIG investment application format.Works cooperatively in a matrix structure with the local Nikkiso CEIG VP’s/GM’s as applicable.Collaborates with related managers at other group global manufacturing facilities.Performs other related duties as assigned.Cooperates with other Nikkiso CEIG Group General managers to follow the group Mission and Vision.CompetenciesExcellent managerial and supervisory skills.Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.Ability to interpret and work with financial data as needed to set and improve production goals and P+L outcome.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong ability to problem solve and analyze situations.Proven leadership experience.Orientated to a teamwork mindset, and experience working with different personality types.Excellent project management experience with a history of results.Proficient communication skills, verbally and electronically.Experience with performance management.Technical capacity with related equipment and manufacturing processes.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position manages all employees assigned within the NFS Escondido operations and is responsible for leadership of those employees and shared resources. The role directs operations through team leaders.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in both a professional office and an industrial manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, filing cabinets, etc. as well as exposure to small to large scale manufacturing equipment within the facility. The role will not be expected to operate manufacturing machinery.Physical DemandsThe employee must be able to sit, stand, or work at the computer for prolonged periods. The position supports operations in the manufacturing facility, which requires being on the shop floor for extended periods of time. Safety equipment must be utilized as specified to enter production areas. May be subject to hot and cold environments, loud noise, and typical manufacturing exposures.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
