A law firm in San Diego, CA, is seeking an IP Biotechnology Patent Agent to join its prominent Intellectual Property Department within the Chemical, Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting both domestic and international patent applications, with a particular focus on biotechnology. This role requires a PhD in biological sciences and a USPTO registration number. The candidate should possess strong legal writing and research skills, excellent communication abilities, and a track record of top academic performance and law firm experience.Duties:Draft and prosecute domestic and international patent applications related to biotechnology and similar technologies.Prepare patent opinions, including freedom-to-operate, validity, and infringement analyses.Conduct detailed research and analysis of biotechnology-related patents and technological developments.Provide strategic patent counseling and manage patent portfolios for clients.Liaise with clients to understand their innovations and guide them through the patent process.Coordinate with patent examiners, legal teams, and other stakeholders.Keep updated on advancements in biotechnology and patent law to offer informed advice.Requirements:PhD in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics) or a related field.USPTO registration number is required.Minimum of 3 years of experience in patent counseling, including preparation and prosecution.Experience in biotechnology or related fields is preferred.Strong legal writing and research skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Demonstrated top academic credentials and previous law firm experience.Education:PhD in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics) or a related field.Certifications:USPTO registration number.Skills:Expertise in patent law and biotechnology.Advanced legal writing and research skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage complex patent matters and meet deadlines efficiently.Benefits Offered:Comprehensive Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays.
