Ranger Power is seeking a Director of Government Affairs and Policy to join its team. As part of a small and dynamic Company, the Director of Government Affairs and Policy will be expected to own the end-to-end strategy, engagement, and execution of the Company’s government relations and policy goals across local, county, state, and federal legislative and policy arenas in support of advancing the Company’s project portfolio.RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the Company’s local, state, and federal government relation efforts across the Company’s target markets, including coordinating with state or federal government relation firms.Track important legislative and regulatory updates, including but not limited to legislative developments/bills across the Company’s target markets, state commission proceedings, FERC Orders, ISO/RTO compliance filings, etc.Lead the Company in strategizing and executing proactive policy and legislative work, communicating important updates to leadership and relevant departments.Communicate effectively across departments and organization to help align unit goals.Lead strategic partnership special initiatives.Coordinate regulatory efforts across the company, involving members of leadership and relevant departments as necessary to track and report on regulatory proceedings and determine the best next steps.Occasionally support the Development team, including project specific community strategies, outreach, community building, organization of local support, and local campaign direction.Lead Company media and marketing strategy, including writing press releases, establishing media connections, and serving as media spokesperson on an as needed basis.Assess and recommend new market opportunities based on regulatory and policy environment.Lead legislative meetings across the portfolio in coordination with local state government relation firms.Support overall government relation activities for the Company, as needed.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of professional experience working on legislative matters in the private sector or a government organization.Experience working on issues directly related to environmental regulatory agencies, legislative committees, and political organizations.Demonstrated ability to forge coalitions and partnerships.Project management, organizational, leadership, and analytical problem-solving skills.Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team and take the initiative to follow up as needed.Ethical, professional, and respectful workplace manner.Up to 50% domestic travel.LOCATION
