Position Summary

The Development Director will be a key leader in our non-profit organization, responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support our mission and expand our impact. This role is essential in diversifying revenue streams, fostering robust relationships with partners, sponsors, donors, and volunteers, and managing a dynamic grants pipeline. The Development Director will also oversee the planning and execution of events and fundraisers, ensuring they align with our strategic objectives and maximize engagement and contributions. The Development Director will work closely with the executive team and board members to ensure alignment with organizational goals and long-term sustainability.

Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of fund development experience, preferably in non-profit fields supporting youth, girls, and/or tech education. They should also be familiar with CRM nonprofit software, donor databases and other fundraising technology to use in their daily job duties.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Fundraising: Develop and implement a multi-faceted fundraising strategy that includes major gifts, corporate sponsorships, multi-year grants, special events, and other revenue-generating initiatives.

Revenue Diversification: Identify and pursue new opportunities to diversify revenue streams, including exploring innovative fundraising approaches and strategic partnerships.

Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, partners, and volunteers. Act as a primary contact for high-level stakeholders, managing engagement efforts to maximize support and collaboration.

Grant Management: Oversee the grants pipeline, including identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements through timely reporting.

Event and Fundraiser Coordination: Plan, organize, and execute a range of fundraising events and activities. Ensure events are well-coordinated, align with strategic goals, and effectively engage supporters to achieve fundraising targets.

Volunteer Coordination: Engage, motivate, and manage volunteers, integrating them into fundraising activities and recognizing their contributions.

Collaboration and Leadership: Partner with the executive team and board to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals. Provide leadership and support to development staff and volunteers.

Management: Manage staff and contractors who serve specific purposes in support of meeting development team’s overall goals and initiatives.

Requirements:

Proven track record of successful fundraising in a non-profit setting, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and grant writing.

Experience in planning and executing events and fundraisers.

Strong understanding of revenue diversification strategies and relationship-building techniques.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Proficiency in fundraising software and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree (required), MA (a plus).

Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
