The Aquatics Director will lead the development and implementation of high-quality aquatic programs for the new Bedford YMCA. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality programs combined with the ability to manage the administrative components of programming. Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary to ensure that the participants and families have an exceptional experience at the Y. Responsibilities include supervision and training of the program staff along with new and innovative ideas to grow and expand existing programming.In partnership with the City of Bedford, the YMCA provides a variety of programs and opportunities for the community to engage in healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. The Aquatic Center at the New Bedford YMCA will consist of an indoor and outdoor aquatic area. The Indoor multi-attraction aquatic facility consists of a 160,000-gallon pool with 4 lap lanes, lazy river, a zero-depth entry leisure area with spray ground, a hot tub, and two water slides. The outdoor waterpark consists of an 80,000-gallon leisure pool with zero depth entry, a spray ground, a lazy river, two water slides, and a toddler play pool. This director will be responsible for approximately 50 part-time staff year-round and 130 staff during the summer time. Join us and help transform lives!QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience (or currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Program). Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency. YMCA Lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor Certification. LGI a plus. YMCA Team Leader Certification preferred.Experience & Background: High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail and high degree of initiative will help this candidate be successful. The ability to direct programs through leading both staff and volunteers, developing and monitoring budgets, developing and marketing programs and bringing enthusiasm and a passion for fundraising. This leader will also need the ability to connect and relate with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization.KEY FOCUS AREASDevelops, implements, and manages operating plan to promote program growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.Develops and controls department budgets related to this position.Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship building skills in all interactions.Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees.Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations, and ongoing training of staff.Coordinates special events and activities.Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIESPhilanthropy:

The yearly salary range for this position is $40,000 - $45,000 and will be commensurate with the selected candidate's experience.The YMCA provides competitive health, dental, and vision benefits.
