An NIH SPORE endometrial cancer funded postdoctoral position is available to study angiogenesis in endometrial cancer tumor progression and development of a novel, targeted treatment in the laboratory of Katherine Fuh, MD PhD, Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences, Center for Reproductive Sciences, and John A. Kerner Chair in Gynecologic Oncology, UCSF.Fuh Lab Focus:
Our lab is interested in understanding how cancer cells attach, invade, and metastasize. We are also focused on identifying biomarkers associated with treatment resistance in patients with ovarian and endometrial cancer and developing targeted therapies to overcome the resistance.Projects:
We have robust collaborations with other laboratories for multiple projects, including this SPORE in endometrial cancer, and advanced techniques including metabolomics and immune profiling using CyTOF. Our lab culture is highly collaborative; in addition to leading their own project, the postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities to contribute to other team projects in the lab and to develop and participate in grant-writing and external collaborations — as well as mentoring of students and junior lab members as part of career development. Additional professional development opportunities will be available through the many training programs offered at UCSF. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a PhD, MD/PhD, or MD degree and experience in molecular biology. Experience with basic molecular biology, cell culture, animal models, and cell-based work is strongly preferred. Experience with angiogenesis is highly desirable, but not required. The candidate needs to be able to work both independently and in a collaborative and diverse team. Excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as evidence of successful scientific writing, are required.
