As a key player in our community's development, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with building codes, safeguarding public safety, and maintaining our high standards of construction quality.SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision performs professional and technical duties related to reviewing and approving residential and commercial construction plans, calculations, specifications, technical reports, and other submittal documents for compliance with Federal, State, and local building codes, ordinances, and regulations; receives and checks plans and designs for structures, new and remodeled commercial, industrial, and residential buildings to ensure compliance; assists inspectors, contractors, design professionals and the public regarding construction requirements; assists at the public counter to provide information and assistance to architects, engineers, contractors, homeowners, the general public, and others; assists Building Inspectors as needed; performs other related duties as required.

Week of October 14, 2024Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Experience

Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited two year college, university, technical or vocational school with a degree in construction technology, management, architecture, engineering, or related field or an International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Certified Plans Examiner. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable. Two years of increasing responsible experience in construction, inspection, and/or plan review. Experience preferably in a municipal government environment.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE

Possession of an International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Certified Plans Examiner. International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Certified Building Code Official (CBO) is highly desirable.

Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
