A law firm in Miami, FL, is seeking a skilled Patent Agent with a background in electrical engineering or biotechnology to join their team. The successful candidate will assist patent attorneys in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, work closely with inventors on new technologies, and ensure efficient management of the patent application process. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex patent procedures.Responsibilities:

Assist patent attorneys in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, ensuring compliance with patent laws and regulations.Collaborate with inventors to understand and document newly created products and technologies.Identify potential patentable inventions by analyzing current technologies and trends.Conduct thorough research on existing patented technologies to provide informed recommendations for patentable work.Draft patent applications, including detailed descriptions and claims, with the support of the patent team.Monitor and manage the patent application process from submission to grant, ensuring timely progress and adherence to deadlines.Perform patentability searches and evaluate the relevance of prior art to support patent applications.Address client challenges and respond to inquiries regarding patent matters.Prepare responses to office actions and correspond with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to facilitate the patent application process.Consistently meet billable hour requirements and contribute to the firm’s overall productivity and success.Requirements:

1+ years of professional experience in patent law, with a preference for 2+ years.Strong background in electrical engineering or biotechnology, with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science or engineering field.Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in a related field.USPTO Registration is required.Experience with patent application preparation, prosecution, and office actions.Familiarity with patentability searches and prior art analysis.Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.Strong research and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.Ability to work effectively with inventors and patent attorneys in a collaborative environment.Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting.Strong problem-solving abilities to address client challenges and patent-related issues.Familiarity with USPTO procedures and patent law practices.Education & Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in a related field.USPTO Registration required.
