Salary:

$28-$33/hour, DOE

Location:

Hybrid - Chicago; Remote

Schedule:

Full-Time; Monday - Friday

Position Overview:

The Litigation Paralegal plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of legal proceedings within our firm. They handle diverse responsibilities, including document drafting, client communication, and calendar management. With a focus on detail and organization, they assist attorneys in serving defendants, meeting court deadlines, coordinating deposition schedules, and issuing/answering discovery. Ideal candidates possess litigation experience, preferably in discovery, and excel in communication and multitasking. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to our legal team's success.

Responsibilities:

1.

Drafting and Filing:

Filing court documents electronically in both State and Federal Court. Drafting and filing all documents needed for service, including Summons, Special Process Server Motions, and relevant orders. Coordinating service efforts with the local Sheriff’s Office or Special Process Server and following up on service efforts. Drafting HIPAA Motions/Orders, Treatment Lists, and discovery to issue, as well as answering discovery requests by reviewing case files, medical records, and bills, and contacting clients. Client Communication:

Communicating with clients regarding case updates.

Scheduling:

Scheduling depositions, drafting Notice of Depositions, and coordinating with court reporter services, including setting up Zoom hearings, court reporters, and interpreters if needed. Keeping track of and updating the attorney’s calendar, including depositions, status calls, and hearings.

Case Management:

Reviewing client cases and managing wage loss information, medical records, and bills. Working closely with the assigned attorney to ensure compliance with court-imposed deadlines. Filing and scheduling motions.

Qualifications:

A paralegal certificate is advantageous.

Preferred experience includes 3-5 years in litigation, with a focus on discovery paralegal work.

At least 1 year of experience reviewing medical records and bills is highly valued.

Minimum of 1 year of experience communicating with clients.

Minimum of 1 year of experience working directly with an attorney in litigation.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong attention to detail

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
