The Assistant Quality Assurance Officer provides services to personnel through field consultations, inspections, data/document review and training in accordance with the Quality Assurance Program. The employee is responsible for assisting with the implementation of the Quality Program at Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC) Regional Biocontainment Laboratory. This position works collaboratively and directly with high containment laboratories to implement quality standards and a quality system of management controls to ensure the uniformity, consistency, reliability, reproducibility, quality, and integrity of experimental data. He/she must exercise a high level of initiative, positive interaction, and follow-through in all aspects of program implementation and assignments.•Ability to communicate complex technical issues to diverse clients. •Skills in customer service and collaborative attitude, as well as exceptional written and oral communication. •Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects. •Ability to respond to requests expediently and with efficient turnaround and to communicate clearly and professionally.•Knowledge of database development, querying, word processing, spreadsheet development, using MS Office to accomplish work-related tasks. •Ability to teach and train staff of varying experience levels on quality practices and procedures in a classroom and in interactive laboratory environments.•Strong communication and relationship-building skills with a collaborative orientation. OTHER WORK REQUIREMENTS:•Must be able to work in animal and non-animal laboratories and be willing to work with biohazardous materials.•Must be able to participate in a medical surveillance program and wear and maintain personal protective equipment, including required respiratory protection.•Ability to perform job duties while wearing respiratory protection.•Willing participation in drug and alcohol program in compliance with the Tulane University Drug and Alcohol policy.•Bachelor's Degree in life/health sciences, public health, or other related discipline•Three years of experience working in a biomedical research environment or with quality processes and tools.•Ability to pass a U.S. Department of Justice Security Risk Assessment for access to select biological agents and toxins.•Experience working in a biological laboratory following GLP or similar quality standards.•Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) or similar qualification.
