Position Purpose:
The Manager of Compensation and Benefits is responsible for leading these areas through the analysis, development, evaluation, and implementation of the organization’s compensation and benefits plans.
Set forth and execute departmental goals by providing vision, leadership, planning project coordination, and management for HRIS while concurrently facilitating efficient operations to meet current and future business needs within the Human Resource Department. Lead and plan the day-to-day operations of compensation, benefits, and HRIS.
Essential Functions:
Lead the design, implementation, and administration of all compensation and benefits programs. Oversee the administration of all employee benefits programs, including health plans, open enrollment, retirement plans, wellness, leave administration, communication, employee assistance programs (EAP), and other employee-related benefits.
Research innovative compensation methodology, industry trends, and technology to benchmark against company practices; analyze appropriate salary and wage survey information.
Partner with finance and accounting leaders to ensure accurate estimates, forecasts, and calculation of compensation and benefits expense for budget planning and tracking; develop fiscal year budgets, performance standards, and metrics to optimize the use of company resources.
Provide Human Capital Consulting to clients within the organization in the development of HR solutions through the alignment of business strategies and HR initiatives to achieve overall organizational objectives.
Design and implement improved processes for effectiveness and efficiency; HRIS System upgrades/maintenance and manager training.
Manage the day-to-day compensation and benefits functions while providing direct oversight and leadership to HR team members.
Coordinate the development and implementation of programs, special projects, research studies, and other initiatives to identify best practices and process improvements to promote functional efficiency and productivity.
Negotiate with vendors or administrators for renewal—manage vendor relationships to ensure programs follow all regulatory agencies and annual testing requirements related to ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, IRS, DOL, and all other regulatory agencies. Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws related to benefits and report/recommend changes to leadership.
Lead the compensation and benefits team in data preparation and analysis to service a variety of organizational needs, including supporting the organization's collective bargaining agreement.
Promote proactive approaches using HRIS to solve business needs/problems; enhance the understanding and acceptance of HRIS capabilities by directing, researching, and resolving HRIS problems, unexpected results, or process flaws and recommending solutions to meet requirements; negotiate and implement Vendor Firm Contracts that will result in lower expenditures for Payroll and the HRIS system.
Oversee the benefit plan renewal process and annual open enrollment. Ensure plans and related policies are current and communicated to employees.
Manage and review active job descriptions, including adding new and updated job descriptions, identifying missing job descriptions, and removing inactive job titles.
General Job Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal, writing, communication, and computer skills.
Requires strategic thinking and the ability to identify industry trends and emerging issues in health and welfare, and compensation.
BS in Business Administration or HR is required.
10+ years of benefits experience.
Proven planning and organizing skills, communication, teamwork, creativity, and innovation skills are necessary.
CEBS, CCP/CBP, and SPHR/PHR certification preferred.
