Description Overview

Old Republic Professional (“ORPRO”) is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, advanced Excel skills, organizational and analytical skills, and an eye for accuracy. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, preparing monthly financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Additionally, you will oversee the billing processes, including accounts receivable and accounts payable. When processing financial documents, you may look for ways to improve efficiency and recognize unnecessary expenses.Job Responsibilities

Assist in preparing monthly reinsurance reports for internal and external reporting.Prepare quarterly GAAP financial statements and annual federal income tax return.Maintain the integrity of our general ledger and insurance sub ledger; work with system manager to improve controls and business processes.Assistance with maintaining internal controls and working with the internal audit department as well as external auditors.Monthly account reconciliation.Perform general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.Assist Senior Accountant with preparation of quarterly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.Assist the accounting clerk with coding of invoices and reconciliation of accounts payable.Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manage accounts receivable collections.Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the proper accounts.Collaborate with internal and external auditors and gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.Must complete 10 hours of company sponsored Continuing Professional Education (CPE) annually.Performs other related duties as assigned.Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.A minimum of 2-3 years of accounting related experience preferred.Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.Ability to read and analyze financial reports.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.Strong analytical and interpretive skills.Effective time management and organizational skills.Detail-oriented, adaptable, and strategic in decision-making.Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated in a fast-paced environment.Experience maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.Qualified candidates must submit a resume to
