CSUDH is seeking applications from candidates who can demonstrate experience in teaching and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to the University's mission, vision, and core values.The PositionTeach assigned upper division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.ResponsibilitiesThe Sociology program at California State University Dominguez Hills invites candidates to apply for part-time lecturing positions. We are looking for candidates with expertise, direct experience, and a related degree to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in any of the following areas: sociology of aging, the family, criminology (juvenile delinquency, criminal theory, gangs and adolescent subcultures, deviant behavior and corrections), minority racial ethnic relations, social theory, statistics, research methods, social psychology, global organizations and social processes, gender studies, sociology of education, and medical sociology.QualificationsRequired QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.Experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.Preferred QualificationsA Master’s degree in Sociology or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.A Ph.D. in Sociology or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).Employment RequirementBackground CheckSatisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
