Job Goal:
Supervises and coordinates activities of administrators and staff who are engaged in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and the departments that support the functions of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities)
Minimum of Master’s Degree; Administration and Supervision Certificate
Minimum of five years of combined teaching and administrative experience
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and administer the following departments: Special Education, School Improvement, Elementary Education, English Learners
Lead all district initiatives that address school improvement and curriculum and instruction
Provide unity and focus on all curriculum department and all seven school programs
Ensure that federal, state and local grants are in compliance and pursues new grant opportunities
Assist in the development and coordination of the selection of the budget that pertains to curriculum and instruction
Maintain liaison and active participation with education leaders and curriculum and instruction at state, regional and national levels
Provide leadership in coordinating federal projects and district curriculum and instructional programs
Assist in the direction and coordination of the Special Education Department
Assist in the direction and coordination of the English Learners Department
Oversee district professional development
Oversee curriculum development and planning
Collaborate with HR department to address staffing needs on a district-wide basis
Lead district initiatives surrounding E-Learning days
Communicate curriculum and instructional initiatives with the community using print and digital platforms
Serve as a liaison between staff, community and related educational organizations in the area of curriculum and instruction
Advocate for the needs of curriculum and instruction
Serve as an expert resource in the areas of research, trends and practices in the field of curriculum and instruction, professional development and instructional technology
Co-chair evaluation and compensation committee with the HR department and assure state compliance
Lead the coordination and allocation of all grant funds
Support and oversee Career Technical Education (CTE)
Collaborate with the Finance Department to provide financial support for the instructional programs on a district-wide basis
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

Working Conditions and Physical Environment
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; hear and understand speech at normal levels; physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds; to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to angry students/parents and neighborhoods considered to have high levels of violence potential.
