The Director of Materials Management is responsible for creating a best-in-class operational process while collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Demand/Supply Planning, and Manufacturing. This role requires overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and expertise in planning, production, demand, and scheduling initiatives. The Director will oversee shipping and receiving functions including costs, personnel, processes, and technology.

Responsibilities:

Oversee supply chain, materials, sourcing, and distribution; manage supply chain operations, including planning, purchasing, inventory management, and logistics. Ensure containment of shipping and other costs through effective sales & planning operations.

Manage supply chain and distribution to ensure inventory accuracy to achieve sales goals. Oversee shipping and receiving departments, processes, and technology.

Work with all stakeholders to align production and demand plans. Ensure achievement of both revenue and inventory goals through successful S&OP process.

Identify any bottlenecks or delays in production; ensure materials and other resources are available to relieve production bottlenecks and delays.

Manage third-party manufacturing partners and coordinate supply chain with production and customer demand including Domestic and International partners. Travel to third-party manufacturing partners to audit and review processes.

Lead the cross-functional weekly & monthly S&OP cadence. Lead processes for supply-demand balancing, in-quarter execution, constraints, allocations, and forward-looking projections.

Responsible for end-to-end new product development. Work with all stakeholders to align production and demand plans.

Ensure achievement of both revenue and inventory goals through successful scheduling & sales processes.

Manage scheduling, shipping, and procurement personnel to develop models and workflows to improve accuracy and efficiency of planning and scheduling.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and finance, to ensure alignment and effective execution of business objectives.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the supply chain.

Education & Training:

Bachelor’s degree required with concentration in business, engineering, supply chain, operations, or leadership.

Master’s degree preferred in same concentrations.

APICS, CPIM, PMP, ASQ, or Lean Six Sigma Certifications preferred.

Knowledge & Experience:

At least 5+ years of technical leadership and people management experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Inventory Management, Operations Planning, Logistics, Supply Chain, or other relevant environments.

5+ years of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Material Resource Planning (MRP) experience, and/or Warehouse Management Software (WMS).

Experience leading a centralized team providing support to multiple aligned teams.

Excellent problem-solving, issue identification, and technical documentation skills.

Customer-first mindset with a strong ability to bring people together from across departments to accomplish strategic and operational goals.

Proven experience coaching and mentoring purchasing coordinators in an agile environment.

Strong knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques.

Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Extensive knowledge and proficiency with multiple software and mainframe applications, using Microsoft Office Suite, SQL, and statistical analysis; advanced knowledge of distribution, inventory, and business systems.

Advanced knowledge of planning and inventory concepts around product movement, disposition, business processes, and relevant industry compliance.

Skills & Abilities:

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Ability to present ideas and information accurately and clearly.

Strong mathematical skills.

Familiarity with LEAN Manufacturing Principles.

Skill in supply chain optimization.
