A law firm is seeking a seasoned Lateral Business Litigation Attorney to join their Portland, OR office. The ideal candidate will have a substantial portable book of business and be eager to contribute to the firm’s growth. The attorney will handle complex business litigation cases, drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and representing clients in court and deposition appearances. Candidates must possess strong advocacy skills, a high level of attention to detail, and a solid work ethic. Admission to the Oregon State Bar is required, with Washington State Bar admission being a plus.Key Responsibilities

Bring and manage a portable book of business, contributing to the growth and success of the firm.Draft pleadings, motions, and legal briefs for business litigation matters.Handle complex discovery processes, including drafting discovery requests, responses, and overseeing document production.Conduct depositions, court hearings, and client meetings as needed.Travel as required for court appearances, depositions, and client consultations.Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff on case strategy and litigation management.Provide top-tier legal counsel to clients across various business sectors.Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing case updates and professional legal advice.Requirements

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Admission to the Oregon State Bar; Washington State Bar admission is a plus.Substantial portable book of business.Significant experience in business litigation, including drafting pleadings and handling discovery.Willingness to travel as necessary for court appearances, depositions, and client meetings.Skills

Outstanding written and oral advocacy skills.Strong attention to detail, with the ability to handle complex legal matters.Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain and grow client relationships.Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.Strong academic credentials and a proven work ethic.Certifications

Washington State Bar membership is a plus.Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in managing a book of business and expanding client relationships.Proven track record in successfully handling complex business litigation cases from inception to resolution.
