Senior Director Global Risk Management

This position is a Senior Director-level position reporting to the Vice President of Global Safety, Risk & Security (GSRS). The Senior Director is a strategic leader responsible for identifying and mitigating risks for the organization through an appropriate risk management strategy that aligns to Iron Mountain's financial objectives, core values and culture. Responsibilities include but are not limited to directing the purchase/renewal of insurance policies, claims management as well as the management of third-party service providers including brokers, insurers and TPAs. The Senior Director is also responsible for preparing loss analyses and budgets, identifying exposures, recommending solutions, implementing approved programs, promoting loss prevention, updating and monitoring compliance with insurance procedures and managing risk management manuals and processes. Additionally, the Senior Director is accountable for achieving strategic objectives, ensuring effective insurance risk management for the organization across all business units. The Senior Director owns the process of identifying, measuring and managing insurable risks, developing reports and plans, and analyzing risk/insurance problems and defining and/or overseeing the implementation of the risk solutions that help optimize operations. During crisis events the Senior Director plays a critical role (leveraging the organization’s insurance portfolio) in mitigating any financial impact due to loss or business interruption.

Responsibilities:

Risk Management:

Strategic development and oversight of insurance procurement

Lead, manage and maintain key relationships with the vendors, brokers, carriers and claims administrators

Direct insurance broker activities regarding policy procurement and management

Maintain and improve the risk/insurance framework

Responsible for budget management

Manage Certificate of Insurance process/issuance

Develop and implement contract and vendor agreement guidelines

Review contract and vendor agreements (terms & conditions) to ensure they align with Iron Mountain’s risk appetite and strategy

Explore and develop relationships with various insurance markets that have the potential to protect against organizations risk, safety and financial exposures.

Advise internal stakeholders on contractual risks and participates in customer and vendor calls as pertains to insurance contractual obligations.

Review and approve Workers compensation allocation model

Support B2B Opportunities

Manage team of claims and risk professionals

Support property related events

Review and approve all risk related invoices

Ensure compliance with claims related invoice

Maintain various mailboxes- Risk General Questions, COI, multiple claims mailboxes, contract review

Oversight of risk teams management of ERMS tickets

Global Insurance Renewal:

Lead strategy and outcomes for global insurance renewals in collaboration and alignment with Finance & Accounting

Placement and maintenance of locally compliant global insurance program

Direct annual global renewal activities

Oversee renewal strategy and schedule

Negotiate all insurance and claims management terms and conditions

Responsible for all phases of risk budgeting

Maintain global insurance compliance

Procure premium financing arrangements

Evaluate and negotiate collateral

Allocation of premiums

Actuarial:

Shepherd the quarterly/annual actuarial analysis to ensure adequate accruals working with FP&A and Accounting.

Approval of raw data provided to actuary

Review of actuarial reports

Communicate adjustments with leadership in Finance & Accounting

Document process quarterly for SOX compliance

Captive Management:

Oversight of Casualty captives

Review of captive financials

Participate in Captive board meetings

Commute captive at appropriate time

Work with captive consultant and captive manager

Provide claims strategy and oversight

M&A:

Participate in M&A diligence specifically focused on providing a relevant gap analysis on all M&A targets as well as divestitures

Provide consultative insurance guidance

Engage outside insurance M&A support, when necessary, and manage the deliverables

Claims Management and Oversight:

Mitigate organization's exposure to risk by formulating, developing, and coordinating all claims-related activities, as well as resolving claims at optimal time with the least possible cost.

Direct a program to ensure the proper and efficient handling of claims, gathering data on claims for both record keeping and loss forecasting purposes, and estimating the financial value of claims.

Responsible for post loss reduction recommendations.

Responsible for the Return to Work program (TTWP).

Monitor and evolve claims litigation management program

Attend key claim depositions and mediations.

Manage accountabilities in the administration of first and third party worker's compensation claims. This role manages domestic and/or international claim management strategies critical to the organization's success. Understand and operationalize programs, policies, and procedures for: reporting, investigation, and analysis

Ensures success of Litigation management program

Claim resolution/outcome management

Provide and maintain monthly and quarterly dashboard on claims activity to include loss/payments

Manage litigated and complex claims and is entrusted with significant settlement authority.

Understand and communicate claims management philosophy and strategy to the business

Build, maintain, and manage relationships with claims adjusters, insurers, outside legal counsel, and other claims related parties

Ensures external reporting requirements are met

Operationalize the design, analysis and delivery of claim information which influences risk management behavior through performance metrics and benchmarking

Participate in and provide organization direction related to settlement negotiations on litigated or complex claims

Manage and provide direction and claim authority to claims administrators regarding claim investigation, reserves, outcome strategy and settlement evaluations

Facilitate regular claim reviews globally

Manage and approve the monthly WC allocation process

Compliance with SOX requirements

Maintain and improve litigation management program

Oversight and coordination of all professional, cyber, environmental liability, property claims within retention

Crisis Management:

Work with key stakeholders to support events

Provide insurance related guidance

Report events to carriers/tpa/brokers

Liaison with adjusters including setting initial expectations and guidance

Leverage the appropriate policy coverage to mitigate any financial impact resulting from the incident

Cross Functional Liaison:

Foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Liaison with cross functional teams including finance, accounting, operations, procurement and legal

Liaison with all Iron Mountain business units to ensure a holistic understanding of the enterprise’s risk to help inform an appropriate global risk management strategy
