Principal Engineer - Renewable Development

The principal engineer – renewable development will provide highly technical engineering services and direct the work of others for the planning, design, and construction of renewable energy projects. Responsibilities include applying prescribed methods and standard practices in performing all phases of projects and directing other engineering staff on more complex projects. Assignments will frequently include all project phases including overseeing and guiding staff in project development and design, resolution of complex engineering problems, design, engineering specifications, scheduling, project accounting (budgeting, estimating, forecasting, and cost control), materials procurement and construction contracts. This is the fourth level position of the engineer career path.
Provide advanced engineering services for the estimating, planning, design, and construction of renewable energy projects. Responsibilities include system planning, design specifications, maps and drawings, materials procurement, contract preparation, project management and project accounting (budgeting, estimating, forecasting). (60%)
Conduct advanced engineering studies and complex investigations; prepare oral and written reports of results and recommendations. (20%)
Provide advanced engineering assistance to other departments; facilitate internal training classes for engineers and specialists; responsibilities may include developing presentations for senior management and professional/industry groups, authoring technical papers for publication by professional/industry organizations, chairing company committees/task groups, and participating in industry standards committees and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (15%)
Keep informed of industry issues/technical trends and recommend and implement changes to benefit BHER's business. (5%)
Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques. Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable development and construction of projects.
Bachelor's degree in electrical or civil engineering from an accredited institution.
Fifteen years of industry experience as a practicing engineer with experience performing highly technical work of a specialist nature without a professional engineering license or 10 years of experience with a professional engineering license.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced project management skills: ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
