SUMMARY

The Human Resource Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of Grand Targhee’s mission and talent strategy. Responsible for the direction and administration of the human resource functions including employee recruitment, training and development, retention, compensation and benefits, internal communications, employee relations, employee health and safety and general employment practices. Responsible for developing human resource strategies, action plans, and programs in support of company strategic objectives. Serves on the senior management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

including the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Administers or oversees the administration of all Human Resource department functions including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.

Provides leadership and programs that attract, retain and motivate employees. Partners with management on labor planning strategies and aligns talent acquisition, compensation and onboarding.

Responsible for overall recruitment and staffing of all resort positions. Serves as coach and expert facilitator of the selection and interviewing process, ensuring Equal Employment Opportunity.

Responsible for updating and implementing job evaluations and pay structures.

Maintains general employment practices for employment rights, job analysis, performance appraisals, workplace behavior and employee satisfaction.

Responsible for resort recognition and incentive programs.

Ensures benefits programs are in line with its strategic goals, budget, and legal requirements and manages administrative issues, communication with employees.

Primarily responsible for employee relations issues including mediation, coaching, and counseling of all employee groups.

Coordinates organizational exits such as layoffs, terminations, voluntary separations in accordance with company policy.

Prepares and analyzes various HRIS reports and metrics, evaluate trends, make recommendations and implement organizational change management to continuously ensure HR best practices for executive leadership.

Ensures adequate human resource information systems and supporting procedures for all applicable members of the resort.

Collaborates with the Risk Management Team, including the General Manager and Directors of Base and Mountain Operations, to develop and implement strategies to minimize risk and create a culture of safety.

Serves as resort Privacy Officer for HIPAA compliance.

Manages Worker’s Compensation program with regards to claims, time loss, return to work programs, monthly review of claims and yearly renewal. This includes acting as primary contact for worker’s comp hearings and mediation.

Oversees Employee Housing policies and procedures.

Oversees and directs uniform distribution, inventory and maintenance.

Works closely with outside agencies to handle all employment/employee related inquiries/issues.

Manages and optimizes the HR budget.

Serves as resort ambassador through community involvement and recruiting efforts.

Participates in senior management team with functions to include organizational development, strategic planning, and problem resolution.

Serves as a champion of Grand Targhee Resort’s vision, mission and values.

Exhibits an employee-focused leadership philosophy.

Provides leadership in developing a learning environment throughout the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:

Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.

Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.

Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.

Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort’s Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.

Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.

Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises staff within the HR Department including Human Resources Manager, Employee Housing supervisor and coordinator and Payroll Manager.

Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.

Oversees the daily workflow of the department.

Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

WORK SCHEDULE

Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Minimum of five years of progressive human resource management experience required.

Minimum of two years of Director-level human resource management experience with a successful leadership track record required.

Previous hospitality or resort experience preferred. HR credential such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or PHR strongly preferred.
